Simplest fix here is to replace the sensor. Some knock sensors can be in very difficult places to get to. What vehicle is this on? Make, model, year, fuel type and engine size please. Comment with these details and I'll try to give you more help.
Disconnect the Knock Sensor Connector from the Knock Sensor. Unscrew the Knock Sensor from the engine block. Reverse order to tinstall.
The location will be on one side of the engine block or the other. I cannot tell you which side because you did not mention what engine your vehicle is equipped with.
NOTE: On many of the older Fords, the hole for the sensor actually goes all the way through the water jacket and antifreeze will come gushing out when you unscrew it.
OK, bank2 is the side where the #2 piston is on. Usually its the pasanger side. To be sure open the hood and see which cylinder head is more forward than the other. the cylinder head set back is the bank 2 side. The knock sensor is located on the bank side of the block. You dont need a special tool. only a wrench. Make sure you clear all codes after installation of sensor.
If The engine in your van is a 3.5L, the knock sensor is under the upper intake manifold. This has to be removed in order to access the sensor on top of the engine block. The job requires an upper intake gasket set and about 1.5 hours to do; if you are handy with tools. For those who aren't; better off leaving this one to the professionals.
