I had a similar problem on my 94 SL2. Turn the key…..Nothing.
Even worse, it was intermittent, the worst type to troubleshoot.
At first it was rare. Pulling out the key , putting it back in and turning usually worked.
Over time it got progressively worse and stubborn.
Then one day it wouldn’t start for anything.
My
car has an alarm with a ‘starter kill’. My first thought, alarm
malfunction. So I located the two wires (they can be any color) going
from the alarm module to the steering column. They are usually labeled
appropriately on the module. I used a small jumper wire (alligator
clips) to short them at the alarm. If the alarm was the problem, this
would fix it. It didn’t.
Time to take apart the steering column.
The key tool will be a 7 or 8mm socket. Take off the two piece steering column shroud to expose the wiring.
On
the left side, directly opposite the ignition, you’ll see a piece of
round plastic held on with two bolts. This is really the ignition
switch.
Take out the bolts (again 7 or 8mm).
Take out the two plugs (blue and white) from behind it.
Take off the switch.
Plan A: (For most people)
Replace this. Bring it with you to the parts store to compare it.
Bring it home. Bolt it on. Plug it in. Turn the key.
I can’t tell you how much it was , since I used …
Plan B: (For the deservedly cocky)
I took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts.
They were burnt. I scraped them clean, re-assembled the switch and tested it.
Vroom..
If you need me to explain Plan B, use Plan A.

SOURCE: radio locked on 2001 saturn sl2
Press & hold the 2 & 3 buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds; a 2 or 3 digit code will appear, write this # down, press & hold the am/fm button for about 10 seconds: another code will appear, write this # down, then call 1-800-537-5140 and enter 202108 (this is a dealer code - you can use one of the others below, too) followed by the # key, then enter the numbers that you wrote down, followed by the * key.
The call will give you a 3 or 4 digit override code. Write this code down so you have it if you ever need it again. Enter this number into your radio following the instructions in your owners manual.
Note: If you get an override code that starts with 0, you drop the 0 when entering the code into your radio.
If you don't have an owners manual, then press & hold the hour button until the first 2 digits of your code come up, then press & hold the minute button until the last 2 digits show. Then press the am/fm button.
Repeat step #5 twice in a row it will disable the Theftlock and you will see "---". You will then be able to change to a new lock code.
IMPORTANT - Other dealer codes: 139010, 206053 and 620529 - these may be inactive by now; GM will remove them from time to time if they feel that they are "compromised".
Also - there are 2 modes to the TheftLock - "LOC" or "SEC" and "INOP". Once the anti-theft is activated, the radio display will show "LOC" or "SEC" - you then have 8 attempts to enter your code. If after 8 attempts you don't enter the correct code, the display will change to "INOP". It is only at this time that you will need to wait one hour, with the ignition ON; before you can retry. After that - you will have only 3 attempts before the radio enters "INOP" mode again.

SOURCE: The shifter/transmission on my manual 5 spd 1999 Saturn SL1
This just happen to me a few weeks ago. If you take out the center piece in the car you should be able to see that the actual shifter is no longer connected to the rod which goes into the transmission. It is an easy problem to fix, however it is not cheap. I was told that you have to buy a complete new kit($250.00) for the shifter, however my dad gave me a different solution. He took some wire, and made a spider web type thing to keep it connected. On my car it was a small round plastic piece that broke, but I cannot remember what it was actually called. This little piece is not available through Saturn by itself, only through a complete kit. Please ask questions if this is not clear enough. Thanks :)

If your bulbs and fuse are good, then you will need to check the switch located on the side of the transmission. It will have several wires coming out of it. This switch controls your reverse lights

02 saturn shifter lost all tension won't go in to any gears. The shift is loose and moves around.
