Question about 2007 Saturn ION-2 Quad Coupe

1 Answer

In my 2007 Saturn Ion my temperature gauge and air conditioning seem to be either malfunctioning or working fine at the same time. When the temp gauge isn't working neither is my AC; when the gauge is working so is my AC. Any suggestions?

Do you mean the fuse panel inside the car or the one in the engine area? Because I pulled the AC fuse from the inside panel and it was ok.

Sounds like you have a loose wire, probably at the fuse panel for the AC fuse, but be prepared to trace the wiring if the bad connection isn't right at the fuse panel.
Replace the fuse, and see if that clears up the problem.
If it doesn't, measure the voltage on both sides of the fuse so that you can see which direction you have to trace the wiring.
if there's no voltage going into the fuse, start tracing between the ignition switch to the fuse panel.
If there's power to both sides of the fuse, start tracing the wire from the fuse to the AC unit and temperature gauge. Also investigate the temperature gauge itself, as the AC shutoff may be contained within it.
If there is voltage on only one side of the fuse, investigate the fuse itself and the socket in the fuse panel.

If there is more than one AC fuse, check them both in the same manner as I described.
If there is only the one AC fuse, it may trace back to another fuse that isn't specifically for the AC - test this other fuse as if it was a second AC fuse.

I would actually be inclined to start at the temperature gauge and work from there, but it's often easier to trace from the fuses.

2007 Torrent temperature gauge not working correctly. The car is not overheating. All other gauges working fine. i have changed the temp control sensor. Looking for insight. Thanks

You might have an air pocket trapped in upper radiator hose. If the coolant was low, refill and open bleeder screw to let air out.

2007 Saturn ion temp gauge stays on cool ac doesn't work as well either

For the gauge, replace the thermostat. For the A/C it could be low on freon. Parts stores will put freon in for you. Use at least one can with dye in it. If it goes low again fast. A garage can find the leak.

Temperature sensing

There should be two sensors - one for the computer and one for the gauge. Are you working on the right one ? Can you ground the sensor plug and make the gauge move ?
Is the engine warming up ?

I have a 2007 Saturn ION 2. I've already had the cam performance sensor replaced. Now something is causing the temperature gauge to malfunction. (Won't move, and then, it kicks up - to normal) The A/C...

Did you have a specific engine code requiring replacement of the Cam Position Sensor?
Did you recently replace the thermostat or run low on coolant or have some other cooling system work done? The temperature sensor can be bad, or simply have a loose wire connection. Check those. There can be air in the coolant system as well. Finally, the thermostat could be sticking and will need to be replaced.

These issues have nothing to do with the Air Conditioner. However, the AC will not cool if the car is sitting still unless the condenser fans (electric) are running. Turn on the AC and check to ensure the cooling fans energize.

Most of these items you can check yourself, however if not, then have your mechanic or a mechanically inclined family member or friend check them for you.

Best regards,

Intermintent cruise contol on 2007 ion coupe 2.4 not red line. I've had it to the dealer several times, and it seems to work for them thats Bull### what else can I do to fix this? Thanks

My 2007 Ion 2.2L sedan has the same issue. Every now and then when I am driving, the Cruise Control fails to engage. If I turn the car off, re-crank it, it works fine. Dealer cannot find the issue and it only happens about once a month. No bad computer codes or anything, just annoying.
