SOURCE: changed timing chain and need to align to cam with the crang
Align the chain with the colored links on the chain over the marks on the cams.Twin cams Have a small hole on the cam gears that will align with a hole in the front of head.Crank Gear has a pip mark that goes straight up.colored links on crank go to the 5 & 7 Oclock position on the lower crank gear with pip mark on crank gear at 12:00.Hope this helps
SOURCE: how do i find the timing marks on a 1999 saturn
When you get the timeing cover off there is a mark on both gears the one on the crank needs to be at 6 o clock and the one on the cam needs to be at 12 there is also a hole at 8 o clock on the top gear were you need to put a timing pin while you put everything back to geather the marks on both gears need to be cnetered in a link on the chain
SOURCE: Need directions on how to install a timing chain
To Install:
NOTE: When lowering the timing chain rotate the assembly 90° to allow the chain to fall between the cylinder block bosses then rotate the assembly back so the camshaft sprocket is facing forward.
NOTE: The camshaft sprocket bolts are not reusable; they are torque-to-yield and must be discarded to prevent premature failure.
NOTE: It is not necessary to align the sprocket-to-camshaft offset notch at this time.
NOTE: The camshaft sprocket bolts are not reusable; they are torque-to-yield and must be discarded to prevent premature failure.
NOTE: Do not rotate either camshaft more than 1/2 turn in either direction with the crankshaft at Top Dead Center (TDC). To do so may cause valve to piston contact resulting in a damaged valve and/or a damaged piston.
