P0460 Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit Malfunction, ford posted this service tip for all 97 to 05 ford vehicles - INTERMITTENT MIL ON WITH DTC P0460 - SERVICE TIP
SOME 1997-2005 VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT AN INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) ON WITH DTC P0460 (FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION). THIS CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY AN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED REMOTE START SYSTEM, AFFECTING THE FLUID LEVEL INPUT (FLI) INFORMATION TO THE PCM. THE CONDITION MAY BE DIFFICULT TO DUPLICATE. TO SERVICE, CHECK FOR AN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED FORD OR AFTERMARKET REMOTE STARTER SYSTEM. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OR HEC MUST HAVE POWER TO ALL 'HOT IN RUN' CIRCUITS FOR THE FUEL GAUGE CIRCUIT TO PROPERLY RELAY FLI INFORMATION TO THE PCM (EITHER BY NETWORK COMMUNICATION OR A DIRECT HARDWIRE CIRCUIT
another I have seen addresses the fuel problem just says the tank got over filled, the gas cap is bad, and that the system is clogged due to a poor grade of fuel being used, Ford recommends a Chevron fuel cleaner additive that should improve this problem

I have a 2003 Ford F-250 6.0 diesel and recently had the engine light come on. I hooked the obdII up and found codes po401 and po460. I replaced the egr valve after cleaning out minimal soot.

code p 0401 is the EGR va;ve but the principle reasons for problems are EGR valve
EGR solenoid
hose blockage and wiring
code p 0460 refers tois the fuel tank level sensor--low input===causes ---wiring short to ground --fuel level sensor--ECm

Check engine PO460

This code indicates a catalyst problem. Most likely the catalytic converter is bad. You could replace the Oxygen Sensors which might solve the problem.

Other Possible Causes:
- Three way catalyst converter Bank 2
- Exhaust tube
- Intake air leaks
- Fuel injectors may be faulty
- Fuel injector leaks
- Spark plugs may be faulty
- Improper ignition timing
- Engine Control Module (ECM)

Inspect all wire connectors before start taking a part.

Check engine light stays on

code p0460 refers to fuel tank level sensor--circuit malfunction===causes ---wiring---fuel tank level sensor---ECM. However in the Volvo section there is a p1446 code that refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) leak detection pump---signal malfunction====causes wiring--poor connection---EVAP leak detection pump.
Go back to who read the codes and ensure that the right code was told to you.l

When i drive my 99 lincon town car after the last gear the car shakes, a friend told me is a transmition sensor,is tha possible ?

Is the check engine light on ?
If you have a problem with a sensor in the trans or a miss in the engine the check engine light should come on and set a code.
If not, it could be a problem with the drive shaft or other mechanical issue.

Check engine light on code P1299

Check your coolant to be certain you are full. The error code means a cylinder head is overheating, NOT GOOD!, if coolant is up, pull battery cable for 20 minutes (unit off) and this will reset the code. If the issue returns, investigate the sensor, presuming you are full up on coolant.
