If you're asking how to change the fuel filter, it's located INSIDE the gas tank, accessible through the trunk. You need to lift the cover with the electrical cord in it, disconnect another plug and two gas lines, then remove six(6) metric screws to get to the filter (and pump). Another gas line needs to be disconnected, the pump plug then is unplugged, the pump nylon clips gently pried off at five(5) locations, and pump removed from the filter and two(2) holding clips. The gas filter then can be replaced.

• Crawl under the van near the rear bumper and locate the gas tank (large metal tublike protrusion). Find the gas line running from the end of the gas tank toward the front of the vehicle.
• 2Follow the gas line until you locate a clear plastic apparatus, which is the fuel filter.

  Pry the filter from the fuel filter mount with the screwdriver; then use the pliers to pull the tubes off the ends of the fuel filter.
  
• 4Slide the gas line onto the proper sides of the new fuel filter and then slide the filter back into the mount.
  
• 5Start the car up, turning the key to "Accessories On" for 3 to 5 seconds first and then turn the car the rest of the way on. This allows the fuel pump to prime the gas line prior to the engine firing.

The fuel filter is located on the frame rail next to the gas tank. It is a round canister that has two lines going into it. One at the front of the canister that takes cleaned gas to the engine and one in the rear of the filter, bringing gas from the fuel tank.

My 2004 Optima did nt have filter exactly. There is only a filter bag type device on the inlet to the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located in the gas tank and is accessed by rolling back the carpet in the trunk... I have 165K on mine and never changed this filter. No parts listed at NAPA or other store for filter. Just put some injector cleaner into the gas tank every mont and should be fine

The fuel filter is located on the fuel feed pipe, between the fuel pump and the fuel injectors. It will be a Metallic tube like item about 4 inches long inline with your fuel supply (feed) line. If you can lift vehicle or get underneath it, then find your gas tank, find the line coming from top of your gas tank and trace it out. Filter is uaully within a few feet of the gas tank.

Its located at the left rear side of the engine compartment. Looks like a metal canister with hoses attached to it.
