98 528i...when shifting to netural from drive it shifts hard.

Is it a 98 or a 2008, couple advice, use high actane gas only,NO 87 PLEASE ,make sure all vacuum hoses fit thight, check all mounts on your engine and tranny, check tranny fluid make sure it is not brown or black,the color should be red, check struts, axle and all suspension parts, check tire pressure, make sure tires are in good shape. BAD MAN WAGON OR BOB MARLEY AND THE WALIERS (BMW) very easy to maintain ,good luck mon and use castrol tranny oil for BMW only

Check all wire connections on this transmission. It should be an electronic shift transmission. If this is the case, then the wire connector is probably not connected.

I have a 1999 f250 4x4 triton v10 tho odometer works now and then it shifts hard out of first and drive is like netural
Unfortunately you need a new transmission. A bad speed sensor can cause the transmission to shift hard but if it is free wheeling in 3rd gear that has nothing to do with the speedo.

P0700 juist means that the transmission has had a fault occur and the then a fault code was set for that fault, the P1711 is the actual fault. Read about this fault code at the link, there is a bulletin on this for the faults.

Transmission won't shift from low gear .
Check you transmission fluid if its thin theres your issue if not it could be your bands or your torque converter.

this is common on these trucks just put your witch in 2 wheel and go ahead and drive it will let loos when it sees the correct secquence and drive a little and shift to netural.
just neve do it from high to low range
