this is caused by burnt starter solenoid contacts, U can either replace the starter solenoid contacts (about $15) or u can replace the entire starter.

SOURCE: 98 saturn sl1 won't start

If the problem occurs after the car has been driven long enough to reach normal operating temperature, the problem is the starter. If the 'no crank' occurs cold, retest the battery.

SOURCE: i have to replace car battery (side mount) for

Yes, the black box in front of the battery is in the way at first. It seemed like I needed to really force the box, but it slides up off the metal bracket that holds it. Once you get that off the bolt that holds the battery hold down is right there. I used large pliars, but I'm sure a socket set would be easier.

Seemed needlessly complicated. Cars with the over the battery bracket are much easier...

yes if its on when the car is running your alternator may not be charging. You can check with a voltmeter at the alternator when the car runs if you have about 14 volts it works if its only 12.6 and less it doesn't

How do i over come this

It could be a number of things.
Battery
Battery cable terminals (ends)
Battery cables
Starter
Fuse(s), relay(s)
Alternator not charging battery
etc., etc.

If you haven't already, try using jumper cables to get it to turn over (crank).

IF it cranks and starts, then I would get the battery and charging system checked.

Hope this helps.

2001 Jetta TDI Battery drain??

If you suspect the alternator, disconnect the 12V line coming directly from the battery and check for current drain. Are you sure the current unit is in ampere (A) and not milliampere (mA)? A 5A current will drain your battery in about an hour. A 5mA current is just about normal considering the parasitic load (radio memory chip, clock, ECM memory circuit, etc.). Try checking your battery. It could be the real culprit.

2005 Altima won't start, hear clicking sound coming from fuse box,key stuck in ingintion, won;t turn over, tried to jump start.

the clicking that you hear is coming from the starter relay. sounds like your ignition starter switch or ignition lock cylinder is bad.
