When it's a sound coming from the engine - check serpentine belt tension. If not engine related but coming from underneath the chassis - try to locate it (front / rear / middle).

Micra K13 Loud Noise at Higher Speeds

I've just bought a K13 Nissan Micra and it doesn't sound quite right. The noise I hear also seems to be coming from the back but it sounds like when you chop down a gear in a manual going down a hill and the engine revvs, well this is the noise I get in the automatic speeding up and slowing down, even just cruising at a steady speed. Any ideas people? Apart from this noise I love this car.

When park on a hill or slope. the transmission makes a loud noise when **** to reverse or drive. but on flat surface it's smooth shifting.

before you return the shifting lever to park on a hilly slope please apply parking brake first then shift the lever to park.now when pulling off shift to drive then remove park brake no loud noise.just my 2 cents

My 2002 Range Rover makes a loud ticking noise when I start it and when I accellerate or stop it gets louder its not over heating and not loosing any power.. what should I get fixed?

Could be your lifters are loose(Tappits) have a mechanic tighten them down for you, but they have to be at proper tork , If the ticking noise is really loud you also could have a broken connecting arm on one of your pistons, that is very bad, some vehicles can be driven for awhile with that noise, but if it is that your motor is done!

Loud whine then knock in overdrive

well, without hearing the noise myself, i could guess that the torque converter clutch might be going bad. the torque converter is the part that transfers the power from the engine to the transmission via viscous fluid motion, the converter also has a clutch that internally provides a direct connection inside the converter for better fuel economy. but as with anything labeled as a clutch, it wears down to a point where is slips. the noise your hear could be the torque converter clutch slipping. i owned a 90 astro van with the same drivetrain that made a noise similar to what you speak of up hills. while driving up hills, fully depress the accelerator and if the clunking noise occurs, then the whine goes away as you accelerate faster in a lower gear, very likely this is the case. you would have to have a transmission shop diagnose further. i drove that old van for five more years cause i didn't want to pay to have transmission repaired. it can be very expensive.

I have a 2000 beetle tdi it started whining when

I'm shooting in the dark but that's what it sounds like----I think with all the pollution factory issues this should be covered by the MFG. Another is blown head gasket but that would show coolant in oil or vise versa. GL

CAR IS RUNNING ROUGH HAS 122K. MAKES LOUD NOISE

With that many miles, I think you need to replace the timing chain or belt. Also if you havent changed the plugs, plug wires, fuel filter and had the fuel injectors cleaned lately, this might help.

My steering column is make loud squeking noises.

The rubber "boot" at the firewall is chafing on the steering shaft. Spray shaft with silicone lube, then turn the steering wheel back & forth to work lube in. May require occasional re application.
