2000 Jeep Cherokee sport

When I turn the key, it is like the battery is dead, nothing happens. I have battery power because the lights and stereo work. After I turn the key 5 or 6 times it will start right up. A few times my battery gauge has gone all the way to + and the check gage light will come on, if I pull over, turn off the ignition, and then start it back up it will go back to normal? any suggestions?

My 1999 cherokee sport just dies on the highway, and when i pull over it acts like the battery is dead when i try to start it, but the lights come on so the battery has power. after letting it sit for a while it will start right up and drive for about 30 minutes and die again. sounds like a sensor but im not sure. anyone have any suggestions?

I had a similar problem this week with my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic. The problem was when I would go to start the car, nothing would happen. The battery would be working just fine including lights and radio, but it just wouldnt start. I learned to fix the problem by taking the car out of park (automatic) and into drive 1-3 times. Then it starts right up. It must be a sensor in the transmission showing that it is not in Park. I had to really slam into Park a couple of times. I am not sure why this started happening, it was fine last week. Maybe the change in cold temperature.

if the other light is ok and the fuel gauge is only dead, may be you have no more fuel, try to refill fuel, if the battery is also dead replace new battery.

My 2000 Jeep Cherokee sport won't start. The battery is fine, the starter has been tested, there is power to the starter, there is no draw on the battery when the key is turned. You can here the fuel...

I would recommend that you check the starter relay. It is not uncommon for these to go out. It is an easy fix, and does not cost a lot either.

1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic, I-6, Automatic Runs great, normally starts great. Occasionally go to start the car and it is totally dead - no dome light, no door buzzer, nothing happens when I turn the key....

first off clean the battery terminals, then follow the ground wire to the body and engine ensure they have good connections. sometimes the wire on the back of the engine that goes to the body breaks. good luck

My 1994 Jeep Cherpkee Sport will not turn over when I turn the key. All systems are OK. The battery charges and lights and radio are fine. When I turn the key nothing happens. What could be the problem?

Bad starter or starter Solenoid. Grounded wire between the solenoid and battery or actually a bad battery. I've had batteries that were bad where everything worked until you went to start teh engine then it wouldn't turn over. There are 2 parts to the battery, 1 is voltage which runs the radio, windows, lights and such the other is Amperage which is needed to get the started to work. You can have good voltage but no amperage due to a dead cell. Disconnect the Negative battery terminal, connect jumper cables to a goo running vehicle, connect the positive cable to teh positive terminal and the negative clamp to the negative cable, this take your battery out of the loop, then try and start the vehicle. If the vehicle starts it's your battery if it doesn't then it is most likely your starter or Solenoid.

1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport Ignition Lights Come on but wont crank

Try putting the car in neutral and starting. If its a manual trans it might be the clutch pedal safety switch or it may be something as simple as a loose battery connection.
