Find the battery, just under the battery is a large bell shaped contraption between the engine and the transmission, it is called the bell housing oddly enough. the starter bolts into the bell housing on the back side of the engine. it is under the intake manifold and is a ***** to get to. buy a rebuilt starter and take it to a shop which has a lift and lots of extensions and universals in their socket sets. behind the starter in the engine block is a crank sensor, while your starter is out have the guy replace the crank sensor, another common saturn fault.

Removing gearbox

Here's your book info is below...
Most auto parts stores carry Haynes Manuals. You can order them from Haynes if needed. Or...often they are carried in your local library.

I have done Ford and Toyota clutches using these books. Clutch replacement is not hard, just time consuming...And easier if you have a lift.

Note: If like many vehicles, don't forget to replace the engine rear main seal while you have access with the fly wheel off.

You can call Haynes and ask specifically if the book covers the repair you are attempting. I have called them to get more specific wiring diagrams not always provided with the books. Very helpful in providing tech data... I have a Haynes manual for all my vehicles...makes maintenance and repair much easier than researching every I need to do something to my vehicles.

Best of luck finding the information you need...

Here's your book info.

SW1 AC will only go on high or turn off, it won't turn on a lower setting. Help? what could it be?

What you mean is the blower motor will only run on high, right ?
It could be the fan switch or the resistor.

I have a crack engine. Need to put in another engine. Will a 2001 engine fit into a 1998 saturn sl1

No, you need a 96 through 98 engine, make sure the one you get is the same as yours, that is if you have an SL1 your donor car must be an SL1, SW1 or SC1 and if you have an SL2 then your donor car must be an SL2, an SW2, or an SC2. You can buy rebuilt engines for about 2000 with core exchange
might make more sense if you intend to keep it a while and if a manual then do the clutch while it is out.

I need a fuse box diagram for a 96 Saturn SW1.

You had to take a velcro panel off, next to the front passenger's left knee, to get to the fuse panel. On every Saturn I owned there was a fuse legend on the back of that panel. There was also one in the owners manual.

Where is the flasher relay on a 1995 Saturn SW1? Don't see it in the instrument panel fuse box in the console.

For 1995 Saturn SW1 1.9L MFI SOHC 4cyl the Flasher is located: Front seating area, center, under dash, front of console, mounted in junction block.

Good luck.

Need ignition wiring diagram for 1997 Saturn 4 door automatic. About to install a remote starter for the winter months

I think these are the 2 diagrams you need, but they aren't that useful in this form. I recommend you post a request at the bottom of the following site to get a better answer: http://www.modifiedlife.com/request-saturn-remote-start-wiring-diagram/

Oil leaking into sparkplug wells

oil on the spark plugs means either you have bad valve seals or bad rings. Valve seals are fairly cheap and easy to replace. Bad rings requires a full rebuild of the motor.
Also, did you over heat this vehicle?

No, the transmission can be removed without doing that. You will need to support the engine.
