Was parked, air conditioner on, medium, reduced power light came on and check engine light came on. Went to Auto Zone for a com[uter diagnostic. Was told to use Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner. That my air flow sensor was dusty or had to cleaned. Any suggestions other than to take sensor off vehicle and use this sensor cleaner, put part back on or should I not use this ? HELP!!!!

The check engine light n or reduced power light comes on when the on-board computer detects a fault in engine driveability or performance, transmission control system or transmission, or the emissions system, and a fault code is set and stored in the computer. Faults that can set the check engine light can range from a vaccuum leak, engine mis-fire, low engine compression, faulty sensor such as O2 sensor or other engine sensor, hydraulic pressure loss in transmission, transmission shift solenoid, open/short in wiring harness, emission evaporative system leak, or one of over a hundred different reasons. The only way to know what set a fault code and turned the check engine light on is to have a diagnostic scanner hooked up to the on-board computer and read it for stored diagnostic fault codes. Many auto parts stores will do this service for free- (like auto zone)check with you local parts stores. If none in your area do, then you will have to take it to a shop and pay to have the computer read for stored fault codes. Without knowing the fault codes numbers, it would be irresponsible to guess as to the cause as there are hundreds of possible causes.

Sounds like all those sensors are going to need replaced. Basically, they are all in charge of metering the air and fuel to the engine, so if they are malfunctioning, the car isn't going to run correctly.

Reduced power is a problem with electronic throttle contol . drive by wire . Do you know what this is ? Taking the vehicle an having it hooked up to diagnostic tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always a first step when trying to find the root cause of any trouble light ! And not auto zone , pep boys , or advance auto parts . Thier diagnostic tool will not check codes in all system control modules .

The code means the computer is not getting a data signal from the O2 sensor because it is not heating up quickly.
It could be a faulty sensor, or the power source for the heater. You would need to check the heater circuit for voltage and ground first.

No recall . Reduced engine power is caused by a problem with the electronic throttle control . Having the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes would point you in a diagnostic direction . Viewing videos on how the system works an testing would help .

reduced engine power message chevy cobalt 2006,cars sputtering, and when i presses on the gas the car wont move, i can put the pedal to the floor and the rpm's dont bulge

if its code p0442 the most common problem is gas cap unless they reset the code for u the vehicle has to cycle- start up a few times or reset after certain amount of miles are driven--but-- this code also can b a cracked, broken,or disconnected vent line,go back to auto zone have them rescan and check for code and have them reset the trouble code if it comes back on than a problem still is present

Will probablly require throttle body. electronis controlled.
