Hi, the key probably had a security pellet in it and was taped there to "fool" the anti-theft into thinking a key of the correct resistance was in the ingition. Tape the key back there and see what you get.....otherwise could be an involved fix to your anti-theft system.......Mike
The normal key of your car has a chip in it, without that chip the security system is activated and the motor shut down - the blinking light is to signal that. The previous owner has put that key there as to use a regular/simple key, much cheaper than a chipped key . Put the taped key back where you have found it and it will all go back to normal.
