My 1995 Jeep Wrangler has a engine miss. I have replaced the plugs, plug wires. It will run find for a while and then the engine will miss. This will happen when it is idleing too. I have had it to 2 repair shops and they cannot find the problem. The computer check says everything is ok, but they say their is a problem and they have kbow ideal what is causing it.

I've owned my 1995 Wrangler since Oct. 1994, and replaced or repaired every component except the charcoal cannister (including two engine rebuilds and one manual transmission overhaul). I have the factory manual on CD. I was driven nuts for 3 years by this exact same problem. After replacing every electrical component except the alternator (including the fuel pump and Powertrain Control Module, PCM) and going to a mechanic's school and learning a few tricks I finally traced the problem down to a loose connection in the back of the pigtail, the plug part. There are no dealer replacements for this pigtail, and I am in the middle of determining if a similar part will work, or if I can remanufacture the one on the vehicle. My diagnosis was considerably confused and complicated by the fact that the rubber drain tube for vent in front of the windshield was filling, (freezing when cold) then pressing right against the connector and also shorting the damn wiring harness out. This is the most likely cause. Every other sensor, control and connection (including the rubber for the vacuum system) had been repaired and not solved my problem.

I am currently working on the same problem and have found the wiring pigtail to the ignition coil to be faulty. when the engine gets to operating temp it starts stumbling and dying. i checked the coil pigtail and wiggled it and found it to be the problem on the one I worked on. Hope this helps.

95 jeep grand charokee laredo hard to start,

Check your spark plug, wires, distributor cap and finger. If you spark plugs older than 15000ml, replace them. To check your spark plug wires, use a tester (U can buy at any auto store) you hold direct on the wire and a small sparkling will show you if the wire works or not. You can check the wires also with this: use a single spark plug (don't remove one out your engine!), remove the wire from first SP, connect it with the single SP, hold it to ground, let someone start your engine...you need to see regular sparks.. do this step by step with all 6 wires. If all wires are fine, check the SP's, If you miss on one wire, replace the wire, if you miss on more than one, chekc the distributor cap and finger. If this items are older than 20000ml or 5 years, replace them.

1999 Jeep Wrangler Miss fire

I would do a complete tune up before I did anything else. Some times on chryslers just a bad spark plug can cause a lot of greef. I would start with replacing the plugs (using the bosch platinum plus 2) , wires, distributor cap and rotor. See if this works for you. If not write me back and I can tell you more info..

Also if this doesn't work for you I need to know what motor you have 4 or 6 cylinder engine.

Runs rough, misses, sometimes then clears up.

You have a cylinder misfire. You need to check the distributor, wires, and pull the plugs because something is not firing the fuel mixture in one or more of your cylinders at timew. you can do the plugs yourself for the most part. I dont know how the 6 cyl looks in the engine compartment of the wrangler, but from my experience with a 96 XJ, number 6 cylinder is very difficult to get to because of the interior air intake vents. if all the plugs seem fine, you may want to take it into a shop for a distrubutor and wire check
