Hello. My 1997 Chevy Tahoe refuses to start. The problems began with a bad fuel pump. I changed. It worked. The fuel pump died again. I changed it again and it has been working. I parked it for two weeks. It wouldn't start. I changed the starter and it did the same thing. I took the old starter and the new starter back to the store. They were both bad. I exchanged for a new starter and put it on. It does better but still won't start. I have checked everything I can think of and it still won't start. The battery is new and fully charged.

Now you have a good battery & a starter that turns over the motor

Have you cycled the key on & off with a fuel pressure gauge on the
fuel rail?

Do you have a fuel filter that isn't over 3 or 4 years old?

Have you checked for spark while cranking ? Use an old plug on the wires,
if you have ignition wires, don't ground the wire without resistance

If you removed the ducting & MAF Sensor it won't start

Tell us what you checked & exactly how that was done.

I have a 97 tahoe. every morning i start it up it takes a few times before it fires on then its fine, but today i tried to start it up and the same thing happen. i let it set for a few minutes before...

Not the alternator, but a fuel pump or fuel filter could be the problem. BUT it depends on the indications. A fuel starvation problem would act like it was lunging and then dieing out before it died. If it just dies out suddenly, then I would suspect an electrical problem like a coil pack or cap.

Chevy tahoe would not start because we change out the fuel pump with a brand new fuel pump. We connected the fuel pump proper according to detail diagram provide by the factory. The vehicle is a 1997 tahoe...

DID YOU GET A GM PUMP OR A CHEEP AIRTEC PUMP,DID YOU HAVE TO SPLICE THE NEW WIRES THEY GIVE YOU,IF SO MAYBE ONE DIDNT GET CRIMPED WELL ENOUGH.ALSO CHECK FUEL PUMP RELAY UNDER HOOD.MAYBE SWITCH IT AROUND WITH ANOTHER ONE.IF YOU CAN REACH THE PLUG FOR THE FUEL PUMP GET A TEST LIGHT AND SEE IF YOU HAVE POWER TO IT ...IF SO THEN BAD PUMP RIGHT OUT OF BOX...BEEN THERE DONE THAT.

My 1997 chevy tahoe is hard to start, I changed the fuel filter and spark plugs but it still takes a lot of cranking before it will start

the pressure regulator may be leaking. pull he vac line and see if its wet. wet is bad. Also these fuel pump connectors are known to overheat from poor connections. Do a search on gm fuel pump repeat failures and overheating connectors. Also the fuel pump could be leaking down so the line needs to be primed. Try cycling the key about 3 to 5 times before you start it. The pump will prime for 3 seconds each time before shutting off. If this helps the problem is the fuel pump.

Chevy 2003 tahoe won't start

its simple to diagnose. If you have no pressure when it doesnt start then you need a pump. When it doesnt start spray some quick start and if it starts you need a fuel pump

My 1997 chevy tahoe will not start without starting fluid. I hear the fuel pump running and have changed the fuel pressure regulator already and the fuel filter. The pump is only a year old. Have checked...

IVE HAD PLENTY OF THESE GO OUT EVEN A MONTH LATER. AS FAR AS THE STARTING FLUID JUST TRY AND CYCLE KEY BUT KEEP IT FROM TURNING STATER OVER. TURN ON AND OFF ABOUT 3 TO 5 TIMES IT SHOULD BUILD ENOUGH PRESSURE TO START. TO START MINIMUN PRESS IS 55PSI.
