At 150000 miles the plugs start to fail under hard acceleration the higher compression blows out the spark before it ignites the fuel. Random cylinder misfire causes the check engine light to come on. change the plugs!
you need to have the code pulled from the computer to know were to start to diagnose the problem.when the check engine light comes on there is a code in the pcm.
Your "check engine" light is an emission light. Oil is fine. You have to find the code to check whats wrong. Usually an engine light is just a tiny problem, but in other cases it could be anything from a sensor, to a bad cat converter. With a check engine light on a vehicle will not pass smog tests. You can turn it off by unhooking your pos side to the battery for about 3 min. Then you will have to drive it 30 miles non stop for the computer to put the code back in and the light will come back on
if evap is the only monitor that hasn't set yet, the car should still pass, a car is allowed to have 1 monitor that isn't set and still pass as long as the check engine light isn't on. take it in for the emissions, it should pass.
