Clutch pedal has no pressure and goes straight to the floor when pressed. clutch disk is in good condition. parked the car the night before was working perfect. next morning no pressure and out of fluid. there was no fluid on ground. added fluid but still no pressure and not leaking out. what do i do

fluid leak at the slave cylinder

clutch pedals are suposed to go all the way to the floor , you sure you dont mean brake pedal (cus thats bad ! ) clutches should travel all the way to floor and release the "grab" of the engine about 2/3 down , this way they are more smoothly allowing shifting thru the gears and not jerking as you shift thru the gears , if clutch pedal does not start to "grab" the engines power by 2/3 off the floor and fully "grab"its power all the way up(slipping) ,and you have a hydraulic clutch (96's do) then the clutch disk may require replacement or there is a oil leak in the clutch/master/slave cylinder , look for small oil leaks from under car in area of foot pedals
clutches should be replaced as an assembly that includes , disk ,pressure plate, throwout bearing , with engine side clutch plate magnafluxed for heat cracks and any hydraulic oil leaks replaced or repaired

But check in see if it's just the ball joints first that's a easy fix compared to replacing the whole clutch I have a 1999 Ford escort manual and just had this problem I know all I need to know about this car make and model trust me it's your clutch nothing else You are soon to run into belt problems too keep an eye on that

If you put the trans in neutral and depress the clutch pedal it should still start.
The clutch is hydraulic, so there should be something connecting the pedal to the master cyl and the slave cyl to the clutch disk.

They have a hydraulic clutch meaning if the fluid (same as break fluid) leaks out there will be no pressure. Good starting point is to locate the fluis can and refill it. Look under the car (be careful) and locate the master cylinder, a cylindrical device connected to the clutch pedal, if it is wet you found the problem and need to replace the seals on it. This cylinder is connected to the slave cylinder on the engine (between the engine and gearbox) and the fluid holder, topping the fluid will help for a wile. Same applies to the slave cylinder.

You can get a `clutch master cylinder seal kit` for a few bucks (usually not much) but replacing can be tricky and you have to make sure the cylinder is smooth inside since this is what damages the seals. Remember the bolts is probably still old British imperial thread.

My brother used to top his up every time he drove, not a good idea not to get it fixed as it WILL ultimately damage the clutch since it is not properly pressed, leading to friction and "burning"of the clutch plates.

it sounds like the clutch master is bad it will look something like the brake master cylinder on the fire wall.you can try bleeding it there before replacing the clutch master loosen the lineup have have someone pump the pedal a couple times if you get agood shot of fluid have the person hold the pedal to the floor and tighten the line back up then bleed the system at the bleeder.

If hydraulic actuated mechanism, loss of fluid, defective master cylinder or slave cylinder at the clutch. Missing pin or other part between slave cylinder and clutch arm. Loose or broken slave cylinder mounting. Missing pin or broken part between pedal and master cylinder. If mechanical linkage, look for broken components or missing pins at moving joints. If you tried to shift into gear with engine running, you may have damaged the transmission gears.

you may have a weak clutch master cylinder

have u checked the slave cylinder? should be inderneath the drivers side door

There is either air in the system or a leak in the clutch slave cylinder. Check your fluid make sure it is full and the cap is tight.
