You have a leaky brake line somewhere. You will need to find and repair it. If you don't see any lines that are wet, you may have to pull the rear brake drums to check the wheel cylinders. They can also start to leak but are not as likely as a line. If your truck is a standard it's possible that your hydraulic clutch uses the brake master cylinder as a resevoir so check that line as well. A soft pedal would suggest that isn't the problem but if the fluid was low enough air could get into the lines. Hope this helps.

1998 Dodge Dakota, the brake light and ABS lights are on with brake pedal pushed and the rear wheels continue to spin.

check the rear wheel sensor wires and sensors . IT appears that the ABS is receiving ( or not receiving a signal telling the unit that the wheels spinning) a bad signal saying that the wheels are stopped and so the fluid to the wheels is restricted to allow them to spin. Check the fluid level in the reservoir as there may be no oil in the section of the master cylinder for the rear wheels and that half is not working

ABS/ Traction control light/BAS & brake light on in 2008 dodge grand caravan

It is safe to drive. You need a scan tool to get a code out of it. Could be as simple as a wheel speed sensor going bad. All of these lights will work together normally. The traction control uses the ABS to gain traction, and the Brake Assist System is part of the stability control. Also uses the ABS.

1999 DODGE Dakota abs & brake light are on and brake pedal goes right to the floor but the vehicle does stop at slow speed

sounds as if there might be a brake fluid leak somewhere in the system.check the master cylinder to see if the brake fluid is low or almost empty,if the fluid is up then it could be a master cylinder that has an internal leak(meaning the fluid is leaking past the internal seals but not leaking out of the cylinder).it also can be a problem with the abs hydraulic control module leaking.you should have the abs system checked for any codes in that system which may help find the problem quicker,if you don`t find any problem with the other suggestions

My brake and anti brake lights stay on all the time

CHECK ALTERNATOR OUTPUT IT SHOULD BE 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS WITH ENGINE RUNNING.IF VOLTAGE LOWER 12 VOLTS THAT WILL CAUSE BRAKE AND ANTI LOCK BRAKE LIGHTS TO COME ON BECAUSE THAT NOT ENOUGH POWER FOR ABS BRAKES OPERATION.IF ALTERNATOR GOOD.BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS ON ALSO MEANS LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL.ALSO. YOU HAVING BRAKE FAILURE.YOU NEED TO HAVE GARAGE OR DEALERSHIP CHECK BRAKES SYSTEM.BEFORE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAIL.

How can I tell if I have abs on my 1996 Dodge dakota the abs and brake light is on and the brakes got spungy.

seeing an abs light is a good clue that you have that feature. Additionally, you will have a far more elaborate set of brake lines and devices attached to the master cylinder than you see on a non-abs vehicle.

The abs and brake lights on the dash are on. what does this mean?

Hi:
Your lights mean that your ABS system or anti lock brakes are not working. The brake light means that there is a problem in your brake system as well. Some quick checks to to to ensure your vehicle is safe to temporarily drive : Open the hood and check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. If it is low, check the inside of all four tires to look for brake fluid leaking out of any of the brake calipers. If you identify the problem area, and you have any softness in your brake pedal, do not drive the vehicle until fixed

The abs and emergency warning light comes on and off at the same time, is this a sensor, electric, or just a brake issue ?

the red brake warning light will usually indicate low brake pressure, abs light can come on also, check fluid level, does brake pedal become soft and spongy?if so it can be the brakes master cylinder,if fluid level is low,can be a damaged brake line, inspect brake system,

1996 dodge dakota Abs and brake light stay on all the time on the dash board. which module needs to be replaced??

On a Dodge when you have a problem with the anti-lock brake system or the hydraulic brake system it turns both lights on. You need to have your truck inspected to find out which one has the problem.
