It had check engine light come on has gone away now but revs at about 2000 revs and some times it runs normal i will let the revs drop it will run sweet then ill stop and it will be reving really high then they drop again like when you first start it up in the morning have been told its one of the sensors or something i went over a big bump and thats when it first started
The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause. When the Check Engine/Service Engine Soon light (Varies by make) is turned on the computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible faults that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores do this testing for free. The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.

na cant be because it runs sweet some times and i went over a bump and it started over reveing then droping it would go bout 2500 then drop down to 1000 over and over then came right it was like i kept pushing the accelerator in and out but then it came right but now just the over revving some times any idea thanx matena cant be because it runs sweet some times and i went over a bump and it started over reveing then droping it would go bout 2500 then drop down to 1000 over and over then came right it was like i kept pushing the accelerator in and out but then it came right but now just the over revving some times any idea thanx mate

what car, DF?
in what country, we are a USA forum and we dont have DFs here.
so i cant read our books and see what your lights mean.
in general i can see , a rev limiter would activate
if the ECU/PCM is in limphome mode,
and if you had scanned your pcm the biggest clue is before your eyes,
you forget to scan it.
you cant fix cars, (with engine issues) with no scan tool
those days are long long gone. sorry
I can but have a huge cache of tools. endless. near.
you dont.
that is why its best to get car serviced. a win /win there.
More likely the battery, try starting the car with no electrics running (interior light, fans, wipers etc.) when it fires rev it up a few times and let it idle for a bit before pulling away if it runs fine after this you can use you electrics as normal . if its an auto pull away slowly if its a manual pull away with more revs than normal but very slowly engage the clutch.
Ford coil on plug systems are multi strike ignition (spark) under 1300 rpm then go to single strike a single cylinder misfire can be created by several things . #1 Test engine compression on a cranking engine compression it should be around 150 lbs but if gauge reads different COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine #2 check engine running compression this will be around 120 lbs then rev over 2000 rpm and check pressure drop again COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine. any drop would indicate valve train problems. #3 All internal engine is fine then external problems are present vacuum leaks and or fuel injection volume is low.
Sorry do not understand this F lark please use centigrade ,Anyway enough of winding up my colonial cousins but i do feel the problem is here quite simple and thats you have damaged a sensor with the extreme cold and without plugging in my OBDII reader and then using the thing to read the sensors with the engine running to check the voltages of things like the mass air flow and O2 sensors ect then i would have no idea offhand, iam not a master at being able to give a diagnostic from afar and i dont want to give you a load of codswallop to make myself look good .Best advice i offer is to take car to a dealer ,then clear the garage out get rid of the pool table ,or sling the illegal immigrants out and park your car in the garage with a nice little heater under the engine or one of them plug in heaters like the swedish home market cars have.
Plug the vacuum line you unplugged and the idle should come back. Change your air filter and the map sensor. check for correct coolant level and replace the coolant temp. sensor. This sensor affects cold starting and idle through the ECU (open loop mode, rich fuel mapping and 1200 rpm idle) It should go to closed loop mode in the ECU once engine warm up is achieved ( lean fuel mapping and normal 900 rpm idle). Do not unplug anything else till you perform an OBDII scan of the stored fault history
