It recently got very hard to shift. I still drive it till it was so hard to shift that I broke the shift bushing. I had the car towed back home, and replaced the clutch and put in a new bushing. Car still wont go into gear. It does go into gear when it's turned off though. What can it be? The clutch is working properly.
Sounds like a bent shift lever.

I have a 1998 SC2 with the same problem. The tranny is hard to shift into first (or any gear) when the car is stopped at a light. However, if I shift while coasting to a stop, it goes in easily. The problem seems to get worse as the car warms up.

I have a 1996 SL2 with identical problem to that mentioned by "lucubed" on September 14, 2008. I purchased the car new in '96 and just assumed the car is getting "old". Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
