yes, if it is frozen up the belt will squeal and burn up ! you can go to any auto parts store and tell them you need a idler pulley for your vehicle. good-day !
Thank you for the inquiry. Visually inspect the fan shroud, Top radiator brackets, or power steering pump for decal. If unable to locate your can logic it out by just matching the inside grooves with the grooves and the flat side with the flat outside pulleys. It will make make sense when you carefully look at it. There is only a few pulleys and a couple of idlers to thread and frap it around. The tension for the belt is adjusted with the altenator.
Loosen the rear power steering pump mounting bolts using a ratchet and 13mm socket or a 13mm box wrench.
Loosen the pump upper pivot bolt, lower locknut and the pump adjusting bolt using a ratchet and 13mm socket or a 13mm box wrench.
For the V8
Attach a socket or wrench to the pulley mounting bolt on the automatic tensioner and rotate the tensioner assembly clockwise until the tension has been removed from the belt.
Remove the belt from the idler pulley first and then from the vehicle.
Starting at a/c compressor working clockwise: Over a/c, over p/s pump, backside of belt over water pump,, down around crank pulley, up over idler/tensioner, over alt, under idler and back to a/c.
For the 4.7L: Looking at the Pulley straight on and Starting at the top Left (AC) and going right (clockwise):
Over the AC Pulley.
Under the Water Pump Pulley.
Over the Generator Pulley
To the right side of the Power Steering Pulley.
Under the Crankshaft Pulley.
To right side and up and over the Lower Idler Pulley.
To under and around the left side of the Tensioner Pulley,
Connecting to the Left Side and Up and over the AC.
Around the outside of power steering pulley, under idler, over a/c comp, around alternator, over fan pulley, around crank pulley, over water pump. The backside of the belt contacts the idler, fan and water pump.
If you have the same pulley arrangement that most 4.0 engines have that pulley is an idler not a tensioner. Your power steering pump has a pivot bolt, and a slide under the pump. You adjust belt tension using the pump.
