When the engine was replaced the sensors off the 2000 should have gone on the 96. The engines are basically the same, but the sensors are what can cause all sorts of problems.
maybe not a sensor..because the 2000 year saturn only accepts a 2000 year engine because of the computer? or the 1996 engine has a different transmission connection to the automatic tranny housing on the 2000 body..(transmission).? it is slipping because the 2000 body (tranny) does not fit with the gear on the 1996 engine? or electric wire? because the mechanic tried to spice together the 1996 engine wires to the 2000 year body? not sure why the tranny is slipping..but the owner said the slipping started after the 1996 motor was installed..maybe i will get my money back from this car because it will be a real headache to fix..the guy said it was just a wire that needs to be fixed..the wire connects the 1996 engine to the 2000 frame..or maybe the 2000 computer from the body does not recognize the 1996 engine? or maybe the gears dont connect the 1996 engine to the 2000 year transmission?

maybe the transmission was not working good before the 1996 motor was installed in the 2000 year saturn..maybe this was the problem..the woman owner said the tranny was slipping..but before ar after the 1996 engine was installed..trying to find out from her..
the new motor was a 1996 saturn motor..it was mated to the original 2000 year saturn with 2000 year tranny..waiting to hear from the previous owner..
