you need a transmission fluid and filter changed.because if filter stopped up.transmission fluid little thicker in cold climate make it hard circulate through filter.when engine and fluid get warmer fluid get thinner where it can circulate through filter cause transmission to shift correctly.
I'm not sure if your car is OBD1 or OBD2 for code readers, but disconnecting the POSITIVE battery terminal for a couple minutes should reset the computer. If the light comes back on then you need to get the codes read. If you live in the US then you can get the codes read for free at O'Reilly's or AutoZone. Go from there. also most auto parts stores sell smaller held help models for around $100, you can use yourself. then type in "92 Buick Century codes" on Google and you will be able to find a site that will give you the problem for that number. Hope this helps.
Have an OBII scan done (fault scan) Any good parts store or shop can do it for you and most will do it free. The scan will identify what is troubling your car - bad sensor, connection etc... I wouldn't drive it far or long because you can do more damage driving it "as is"
Next time you stop, go to a close parts store and have them pull the codes. Could be that you didn,t tighten the gas cap enough. this would be an EVAP code
