Here's something to consider..... Sometimes, when one parks against a curb, there is a tendency for the ignition switch and the gear shift to kind of get in a bind. Sometimes, forcing the steering wheel to turn a bit, one way or the other, will relieve the pressure of things so that the gear shift or the ignition switch will function properly... OR, you might try putting the gear shift in Neutral... and then returning it to Park... Just some thoughts...
ok steve.
what transmisison. ? r?
on the A/T there is on the side of all these, a shifter rod.
and on that end of rod is the PRNDL, "prindle" switch.
this switch tells the TCM what gear your in
and to glow the reverse lights.
and to prevent shifting out of park , if the brakes are not applied.
called park lock out.
use google image to see 10,000 photos of it.
or more.
here it is
IF ALL OF THE POSITIONS ON THE (PRNDL) TRANSMISSION INDICATOR, ON THE DASHBOARD ARE CIRCLED THEN IT MAY BE THE TRANS RANGE SENSOR. THERE MAY BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE TOO, ASK YOUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER ABOUT THIS. BUT FIRST, CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID FOR CORRECT LEVEL AND SEE IF IT SMELLS BURNED. IF IT SMELLS BURNED, THEN HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED WITH NEW FLUID AND A FILTER. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR ANY COMMENTS YOU MAY HAVE. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. GOOD LUCK
