2000 saturn ls. brake lights work but tail lights will not turn on

The dash lights are on a different fuse and circuit from the tail lights.
If the lights in the instrument cluster work, the problem may be in the harness in the dash.

You must have put the wrong buld number in or installed it wrong and blew a fuse.

None of the brake lights work , the center high mount lights too ! I can't believe both tail lamp assembly's going bad at the same time ! Wrench light on means codes are stored in the BCM , did your Mechanic check codes .

could be a bad diode also there was a reacll on the tail light sockets

it is most likely a blown fuse,the fuse box is usually under the hood also check the low beam relay,it may also be in the fuse box,if you have a test light see if there is any power to the low beam at the bulbs,if they are H4 bulbs it is the center terminal,also check for any loose wires or connector plugs,,,,,hope this helps......cheers

That has a double filament bulb in it. One is for the tail light and the other for the brake and maybe the turn signal. If your turn signal flashes the tail light and not an individual turn signal bulb it will behave the same way. The way it works is that the tail light filament goes off and the brighter brake light filament comes on. The brake light half of the bulb is out. If you change it, change the passenger side too, it will do the same shortly if you leave it in. They tend to go bad in pairs. Good luck.

We had the same problem with ours, that is a Saturn recall items. Check with your Saturn dealer to see if it is still in effect. It use to make our headlight switch get hot. I think it was a poor ground in the taillight housing, I use to wiggle the bulb plug-ins and that helped for a while, but after the recall was fixed it never did it again.

look in the trunk you will see the nuts that hold the tail light assembly in place just remove them and the tail light will come out but dont force it.

i was having a similar problem with my 2000 SL. when the taillights would go, so would the cruise control. and through many bulb and fuse replacements, i finally went into a saturn dealership and they did a recall campaign on it. they did their thing and i havnt had any problems since. FREE!

try replacing the bulbs as they are double bulbs and if one side of the bulb is blown the other still works which would give you your current symptoms if you need further assistance please let me know
