Hello brian24bruce: My name is Roger and I will help you. Follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator back to the engine. The housing that the hose connects to is the thermostat housing. The housing should be held on by two bolts. Remove the bolts to gain access to the thermostat. Be sure to install the new one the correct way. The end with the coil spring goes to the inside of the intake manifold. I attached a picture to help. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. THank You for using Fix Ya. Check your antifreze level(1) if ok let it run and warm up feel the hoses going to the radiator to see if there geting warm(2) if not change the thermostat (3) if all this fails could be a water pump or blocked heater core or blocked radiator. need to check for circulation. One more thing make sure your antifreze mix is right but 9 uot of ten it will be your thermostat.

The problem with these jeeps is that the older they get the more clogged the radiator geats.
The radiator in the Cherokees are only a single row of tubes.
You can try to flush out the radiator, but replacing it with a heavy duty type is probably a better option.
Your car is not getting enough flow to cool down the engine.
Also you want to check that the electric fan is coming on. There is a coolant sensor in the radiator.
