Sounds like an ICM to me. In Saturns, it's the base unit that your spark plug coil packs plug into. The modules will work when cold, but once the car and module warms up, the module quits giving spark signals. Once the car warms up, the ICM will not work as long in between failures, due to the hot engine bay.
Sl1 has single overhead cam sl2 has doubleoverhead cam
i believe it is an sl1. im not sure what a over head cam is
it is a sedan if that helps any?
check temp sensor in back of head center of head two wires could have corrosion if corrsion seen replace sensor and wire end connector can be got at saturn parts dealer or maybe parts house
ok I have worked as a saturn technician for years ,so lets look at the basics have you anyway to check fuel pressure? and read the codes? I worked on one once that did simular things and it ended up the fuel pump which is in fuel tank.the only way to check is with a fuel pressure guage needs 40 lbs of pressure to run well continuous.
i also put a module in and coil packs. but none of those was it. and its a 96 saturn dual. is it the coolant tempurature sensor your talking about?
