Hi, it's either a low battery, a bad connection, or a bad solenoid. Put the car in park or neutral, set the brake, turn the key on, take the big starter wire off the solenoid, and hold it to the other side (where the battery attaches). It will spark a little when you do this, but if the car starts, replace the solenoid. If not, check the battery and ground cables for good solid connections and try a jump start. If none of this works, please get back to me, and thanks for using FixYa.
Hi,
if its a stick shift then try bypassing the clutch pedal interlock switch under the dash with a 20 amp blade fuse. it will start in gear now so be careful. or sand the posts on the battery and contacts at the big relay untill they shine. if its an automatic and you sanded all posts and contacts and it still wont start with a jump then it needs a starter. you may get one more start or two with a blow to the starter with a hammer. tempos are amazing, we had the dreaded AWD.

Ether a bad solenoid or a bad starter. Assuming you cleaned all the cable connections.
Put in park and and try bypassing the solnoid with a jumper cable. Battery positiv post to starter.
Be careful
