Replacing a pvc valve on a 2003 avalanche - Avalanche Chevrolet Cars & Trucks

Please check hose between intake manifold and engine head cover connection and valve. PCV is positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve like this.

look on the rear valve cover should see pcv valve.

• Your PCV valve is located on the passenger side valve cover.
• Check the hose to that runs from the PCV valve to the intake if you are looking for a leak. Them hoses rot a lot.

REMOVE PVC VALVE WITH VACUUM HOSE STILL ATTACHED CHECK FOR VACUUM AT PVC VALVE PLACING FINGER OVER IT.IF NO VACUUM FROM PVC VALVE BUT THE HOSE TO PVC VALVE HAS VACUUM REPLACE PVC VALVE.IF NO VACUUM GETTING THROUGH PVC HOSE AND VALVE.LOOK FOR DISCONNECTED BROKEN VACUUM HOSE OR OBSTRUCTION IN VACUUM HOSE BLOCKING OFF VACUUM.

pcv valves are generally located on top of the engine's valve cover. A tube made of rubber generally goes to it.

5.3 liters V8 front engine with 96 mm bore, 92 mm stroke, 9.5 compression ratio, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder LM7

The PVC valve should be located on top of the oil cap near to the valve cover.
To remove the valve take off the protective plastic cover and undo the two small bolts that hold the falve using a 22mm wrench.
