Spray WD40 into all door latches, then shut and reopen doors till light and dinging stops.
I have experienced the same items as all others listed in this thread. After 2 months of not sleeping because of the alarm going off, as a last ditch effort I went to the dealer and they found that one of the door ajar sensors had shorted. This is why the alarm would go off at night, the dome lights would come on and off while driving, and the doors would unlock and lock because the computer thinks the door has come ajar when nothing at all has happened in reality. The best $260 spent. I hope I can sleep like a baby!!!!
My car alarm goes off randomly, usually at night. I also was at the point of wanting to cut wires but I think this would cause other problems. These Fords are touchy. I checked some other web sites and found out the factory alarm can be set of by a number of faulty sensors including ; horn, brakepedal, door adjar, power locks, hood pin( near washer fluid container, detects if hood is closed properly) and maybe some others. I have a 1998 Ford Explorer and I think my hood pin was down to far so I bent the bracket up till it pushed the switch when the hood closed. I am waiting to see if that helps. The other web sites I checked are Carcomplaints.com and Commandocar alarms.com . The computer on the car can be scanned to find out which sensor it might be. Alot of the complaints were caused by faulty door sensors. Scanning and a new sensor can easily run over 250 dollars. Ouch. Hope this helps somebody.

WOW can u say ********.
Who would prefer a rogue alarm over a rogue gas peddle? Oh yea ME
I had the same problem with my 2002explorer. I went to Walmart ( jewerly department) and replace the battery from the alarm key, cost me close to 5 dollars.
Usually it is a wire in the cars alarm system that is sensitive to cooler vweather, just replace the wire and it will be fine.

At one point the door was lock from the in side and then closed and then unlocked with alarm, try un-locking it from the drivers door, then from the in side push the un-lock button and then close the drivers door. U should have no problems with it, but they do say that putting the key in the ignition and then do what you would like starting it but don't and do it 2 times and then start it will tell the alarm that it is not stolen.
Do u know that key less entry code to your drivers door?
Let me know if you would like your code that is if you don't know where to look.

Have you had the system checked and the codes pulled? If so and nothing was found, you can bypass each alarm trigger one at a time. If you have the patience, do this yourself and park the car where it happens. If the alarm stopsgoing off wrong, you have found the trigger and/or circuit setting it off. Sometimes this is what it takes because the system is operating in it's parameters and will not set a code? Good Luck.

The electronics on this 02 Explorer have been a thorn in my tail for 5 years. Al least I had the extended warranty for most of the fixes. Now that it is expired I am having the alarm (HORN) go off just for the heck of it while sitting in the driveway. I hit the key remote and it stops. Later on it does it again........same story. I have noticed lately that the inside alarm will sound several times when we first get in and pull away.......like a door is ajar or we haven't buckled up. I've even gone so far as stop, turn off the key and start up again. It's a V-8 and the dealers don't want to give you anything on trade. Looks like we're stuck with it for now. Oh....I did go out today and shoot WD 40 in all the door locks and the tail lift gate(not the key locks). Hopefully that will solve the problem.
Recently purchased a used 2002 Ford Explorer (V6). Twice in two days the factory alarm went off while sitting in the driveway all by its lonesome. Hitting the fob panic button or the unlock button will turn it off. I'm still researching the problem and am not sure what to do next.
I have the same problem, when I drive the Door Ajar warning comes on and off ,doors and hatches closed and locked The warning beeper goes off and on.When parked and locked, the alarm will go off by itself. The interoir lights come on when the Door Ajar warning goes off.If you have any ideas ,please let me know. Thanks

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer V-6 engine and the alarm goes off randomly with no one around. Usually in the middle of the night. What's causing this and can I fix it myself? How?
