Leaking sunroof in 98 Saturn SC2

From the research we've done, it sounds like it may be the drains, rather than the sunroof seal, that is the problem. What we need to know is how to locate the drains to try to unclog them. Please help!

Hello- I have a similiar problem...I have a 97 SC2 the sunroof doesnt work. I've taken the headliner down (partially) and removed the switch and motor (which have been tested and both are working) I am curious and interested to know when the motor IS installed, there is no part located up under the roof that actually moves the roof. Can someone please help me understand what part is missing? There is just a hole that the gear goes into (from the motor) , but there's nothing there to move anything. Its just an empty hole. I cant figure how the roof is supposed to be moved and what part(s) are missing so I cna replace it and get it working. I'd really like to get it done ASAP as it is leaking. Thank you!! :)

The drain hoses get clogged behind the kick panels. Pull back the kick panel and reach in grab the hose and pull it out from the hole in the lower panel. Then I just cut off the end and watch the mud and water flow out then reinstall. There is also one in the rear wheel wells as well for the back drains.
There is no reason to remove the headliner unless its broke.

Dont know if I will get response on this as it's a old post but i removed the passenger and driver side kick panels and see no hoses, only the radio antenna on passenger side and a wiring junction on drivers side. I removed the behind the front wheel fender cover and saw no drain tube outlet there either?

From the question above...where exactly is the headliner?

The easiest way to get to the drain tubes to clean them is to remove the head liner! It is actually really easy. Then just blow it out with compressed air.

Rav4 sunroof leaks because of worn rubber seal and not because of clogged drain hole

most upholsterers should be able to help here If not go to a rubber dealer that sells sponge rubber etc as most have a good selection of auty trim rubbers that you can fit yourself. The best glue is loctite 406 Be careful as it is a super glue

20006 saturn ion water in floor board

The drains are in the wheel wells. You have to remove the plastic panel in the wheel well. Pour some water in the sunroof drain area you'll see it come out a little rubber nipple. Take a razor and cut off a little of the end of the nipple so water flows easily out. They are closed and the water pressure isn't enough to open fully and the water backs up and leaks inside.

Sc2 Saturn 97 can't get sunroof to work

It sounds like the motor is burnt out or a wire has break in the circuit or possibly a weak motor as you said you opened it right? TRY holding the button that closes it as you manually push it shut also look for obstacles like clothe etc.

01 sc2 sunroof motor engages but will not open roof

I have an '01 SC2 that was having a similar problem and would bind up. I did some research and found that the moonroof has plastic slides that are very prone to breakage. www.sunroofdoctor.com has replacement slides that are made of aluminum and are supposed to fix the problem. I have mine apart now and the hardest part was taking down the headliner. It's not a small job, but can be done by the average do-it-yourselfer. Also, sunroofdoctor has rebuilt moonroof modules if you don't want to change the slides yourself, but they cost significantly more.

Leaks by feet

1st the sunroof leak- there is some type of channel/drain to direct water out of the sunroof area. Open the sunroof and look around the outer inside area for evidence of junk blocking the channel/drain, such as leaves, dirt, pine needles, etc. and clean out with a vacuum and toothpicks (to dislodge). If you can find a drain tube in a channel (it should direct water to the underside of the car), the easiest way to clear it is with compressed air.
2nd Since this is much worse since the windshield was replaced, I am thinking that it was not installed and sealed properly. So, first try to clean the channels and any drain tube(s). Next, with a hose, spray the windshield only, not the sunroof, and see if it leaks at your feet in the front seating area. If it does, the windshield install is to blame for the leak there.
