My 1999 Chevy S-10, i think is having problems with the fuel pump again, I replaced it 2 years ago because it wasnt reading on the guage now its not only doing that but now it takes me like 6 times turning the key to get it too start. My father said that it might be something else wrong making it hard to start. I think the fuel pump is going out again, StoneColdsteveO
Rather then just thinking the fuel pump is the trouble ,test ! Fuel pressure and flow testing . electrical circuit testing , voltage drop testing . Test don't guess !
What engine does it have 4.3 vortex engine with Central Sequential Duel Injection Fuel System ?
Testing Electric Fuel Pump Problems with Voltage Drop Test
If the fuel gauge wasn't showing the correct level you replace the sending unit , not the fuel pump . Two different thing's

Fuel psi less than 50 psi no start GM CPI Vortec
SOURCE: hard start
Its your fuel pump.I had the same plomblem not too long ago.I was spraying either in to start it.I have a 97 chevy truck witch requires 65 psi to start and 55 to run properly. You need to find out much psi you need to start it.You can probaly look in your manual or just make a few calls. My truck had 55 psi and it ran fine i just had to get it running first.Good luck.I wonder if that fuel pressure regulator was a waste of time like it was for me.

My S-10 does the same , but with one difference, it finally dies and now wont start. Had fuel pump and filter replaced last year along with a tune- up. Had only put 2 thousand miles on vehecle since feb 2007.

My 1999 S-10 fuel gauge wont read properly. I am wondering how hard is the pump to change?
