Hello, I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6. I had the pcm replaced Aug 2010. I recently had an oil sensor problem and when I picked it up from the shop and drove away the check gauges light came on and my battery gauge jumped clear over 19v. Slowly the Jeep started tugging and chugging and losing power to where it eventually died. I had the gas pedal slammed to the floor and it wouldn't go over 3 or 4 mph. After I let it sit for awhile, it started again and I made it about 8 blocks before it did the same thing. My pcm was replaced because it was losing its charge but tugging and chugging like it is now. I understand the voltage regulator is in the pcm on this model. Is there something else that could be causing my pcm to continually go bad? It has a new battery, alternator, starter and selenoid.

It could be the coil, distributor cap, pick up coil, and its possible to be crank positioning sensor all costly i would have a diognostics run on it before you guess on the next part to try i have wasted a lot of $$ guessing when the diognostics was cheaper than one part alone. Hope this helped
