Hi:) For Ford Compressor Clutch Removel

Step 1

Locate and remove the compressor clutch retaining bolt. Looking at the compressor clutch you will see a bolt in the center and three bolts along the outer edge. The center bolt is the retaining bolt. The three bolts around the edge of the clutch can only be accessed after removing the clutch, and are only relevant in clutch repair situations. To remove the retaining bolt you need to maintain the clutch position and relieve pressure from bolt head by applying the compressor clutch holding tool with your other hand, or have an assistant hold the tool in place. Do not lose the retaining bolt in case you need to reference it later.

Step 2

Separate and remove the clutch from the shaft of the compressor. Once the retaining bolt is removed, as described in Step 1, simply pry the clutch away from the mounting surface using your hands. If the clutch is a little difficult to remove due to damage or decay then try using a screwdriver to lightly pry the rear side of the clutch away. Spray the area with an auto lubricant and allow it to sit overnight if needed. While removing the clutch do not lose clutch spacers.

Step 3

Pull the snap ring from the clutch pulley using your snap ring pliers. You will now be able to remove the clutch pulley from the compressor. While everything is apart, and before installing your new compressor clutch, clean the area to remove dust or grime.

Reverse steps to install.

You need a hydraulic press to push the old assembly off. I do not think you can buy just a clutch assembly from a dealer. Probably have to get one aftermarket...

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 4.0 that I need to bypass AC clutch with shorter serpentine belt only can it be done

SOLVED,. AND WORK DONE TO PROVE. IT.
ok there are only 2 to 3 ways if possible at all .
ask the store (auto)
read the catalog for this bet. Gates or others
measure it and by a custom belt. (done many me)

4.0L engine has vast support and I own a 99 non grand that year
see if gates belts lists that configuration.
gates Ecatalog. let me read it to you now.
1:gates says no. only sold K060882 Micro-V
2: rockauto says NO, , 1min work learn that. free.
3: measure it. Impossible. the belt
4: BUY THE PULLEY FROM JEEP.

2 ways to measure CIRCUM
we know width is .807 "for sure. 20.5mm wide (BINGO)
now circumstance with AC is 88.87" (22570mm)
if you look close to the belt P/N the circum is part of the number
as 88 or 2240. WE MEANSURE THE NEW PATH. BUT FAILS HERE.

the factory service manual shows this car also sold with out AC
so learning that one fact, we know what to do.
answer find it sold on earth or at JEEP.
but wait, to do so they added a pulley (etc) inplace of the AC
and if you look here.
SEE MY BLUE LINE
THAT IS A FAIL
THE FAN SLIPS AND ENGINE BURNS UP.

FINDING THAT PULLEY CAN BE HARD.
as in RARE.

Hydraulic clutch reservoir

what have you done before? usually if you have to ask this question the answer is no. also remember that even if you can do the work yourself you will need an extra set of hands there after you are done to help you bleed the air out of the system.

Why ac blowing hot air

start off with the cheap possibilities and make your way threw.
I'd start off with replacing Air Charge temperature sensor, make sure your AC Hose isnt leaking anywhere, if those dont solve it then replace ur AC clutch, last chance would be replacing AC compressor. sometimes the compressor will malfunction randomly. or the AC clutch might malfunction aswell. covering these steps somewhere along the line you will have working AC again! good luck

Noise from ac compressor

That would depend on the problem and prices in your area.
You can call around and ask for the cost to replace the ac clutch and the compressor.
If the bearing in the clutch is the noise, the clutch can be replaced without replacing the entire compressor assembly.

My 1996 Toyota Tacoma AC Compressor Clutch is frozen up. Can just the clutch be repaired? I have 200,000 miles on this truck and do not want to spend a lot of money for a new AC compresor kit. There has...

Give a dealer a call ask for the service department,Ask if the have a repair kit, also call your local parts stores ask them for parts and what special tools are required. Most of them are honest and will be happy to help.("Don't try to unhook any AC lines you could blind yourself if the freon gets into your eyes. if you have to pull the compressor.take it to a repair shop have them drain it for you first"). Hope this helps, Good luck

I am needing to know how many cans of freon are required after replacing all ac parts to recharge ac?

Hello robinjones_m: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. Your truck should hold 2 lbs. of R134A freon. That equals to 32 oz. of charge. If all components were changed be sure to add 8 oz. of A/C oil. Should you need any further help please just ask. Please rate the quality of your answer as this is how we know you received the correct answer to your question. THank You for using Fix Ya.Roger
