I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima and about a month ago my brake and battery light went on. Needless to say, the next day my battery died which was due anyway. So I bought a brand new battery (DIE-HARD) and when I left the lights went on again. I mentioned it to the very young new mechanic and his response was that this was common, take it on the freeway for a while and it should clear up. Absurd but it worked. That was a month ago and for the past few days the lights go on intermittently. Can anyone help? BTW, the brakes were replaced 4 months and just got an oil and filter change this past weekend. I really appreciate any advice.
I thought this was free support. Apparently I was wrong. How did I fix it? Easy, I broke down on the freeway and got towed home on a flatbed! That was easy!!
You need a new alternator.

same issue
Same problem here. I just replaced the alternator and put a brand new battery in the car and it seems to just drain the battery after a few days. I brought the battery back for another brand new one and now, a few days later, it's happening again.
I have the same issue, i just replaced my battery and I dont want to replace the altinator if i dont have to. pls help
Yeah same problem here. I just bought brand new alternator and it worked for about three days before the alternator, figure this, died.
I have the same problem and have been searching online forever for a solution. I put a brand new alternator in and three days later my car died again. So I have my mechanic trying to figure it out. However, I think it has something to do with my system installation and the need for a capacitor. do all of you have custom systems in you maximas?
same problem-three new alternators and batteries in less than three years
got new alt. lights still on
i just put in a new brake light a month ago and it went out again
