Hi, I Purchased a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD with a 4.7L engine. Please keep in mind. I had the jeep fully inspected, when i purchased it. At the time it passed with flying colors. I have taken the Jeep to 3 shops. None or them are able to find the problem. 1 - Jeep will stall intermittently upon starting. Usally happens the when the engine is still warm. 2- Prior to stalling. The Jeep is idling very rough. Most of the time the engine idles slightly rough. When the rough idling is more severe, is when the Jeep stalls. 3- Jeep need to sit or engine needs to cool down for 20-30min. Before starting properly 4- Error codes showed engine running lean, #2 & #4 misfiring 5- Oil pressure gauge started running very high today, from 3 to 5. 6- I'm able to remove the key from the ignition, once Jeep is started and running. 7- Poor fuel usage. Current 24L/100km, Should Be 16L/100km 8- -New throttle body. The following repairs have been done recently: A- Fuel Pump B- Fuel Filter C- Cam Sensor D- Injectors cleaned E - New battery F - New Serp belt G - Oil changed with/ engine flush

Check the O2 sensors in the exhaust manifold with a automotive meter not a code reader ,then trade it in for a diesel manual version as these are impressive but 4.7 litre gas guzler at our petrol prices about 10 dollars a gallon in the -uk and around 7/8 dollars here in spain this vehicle you couldnt give away here

2002 grand cherokee, overland 4,7L engine doesnt

Hi Joko,

What you are describing is a failure of a main circuit. The first thing you should check is yo make sure that your battery is in good condition and that the cables are clean and tight. Let me know if yu find anything wrong there. Then there may be another main circuit problem. Check all of the fuses in your fuse block in the engine compartment. If any of these fuses are blown, it will usually cause several things to not work. If you find any fuses blown, DON'T REPLACE IT YET. Let me know WHICH fuse is blown and I can help you find out why it blew so you can get the problem fixed.

Get back to me on this and we will continue.

Free Multipoint Inspection

I would go ahead and do the transmission service, I see no need at that mileage for the other suggestions.

Engine light is on, all fluids, fan belts look good.

you will have to see what the code is for the engine light to turn on. cause it could be anything from a gas cap not on all the way
