No its not a must.
You do not have to use synthetic oil, it is an optional upgrade for your engine. Synthetic oil is just a way to pamper your car, it offers better wear protection and makes your cars engine last longer, but with regular scheduled maintenance done to it there should not be any problems. Feel free to use the synthetic oil for that extra confidence that you are protecting your engine a little better

Try with key on, press gas pedal to the floor three times then turn key off & back on. This should reset it.

I believe it means that your car is due for an oil change. Your cars computer is programmed to turn that light on every so many miles to alert you and then after you change to oil there is a procedure to reset it. You owners manual should tell you this information of what the light means and how to reset it. If you do not have the manual call your local dealer and ask the service dept. what it means for sure and they should tell you over the phone and if it's a good dealer they will tell you how to reset it.
