1999 Saturn Sl1 horn does not work. This is the 3 wire horn set up that Saturn used which does not have the fuse box mounted relay. There is 12 volts at orange and the black and the other black is the ground. The black ground to ground is good. Put junkyard and brand new horn in and makes one blast and then nothing. Fuse is good. Trying to open up wiring harnes or get access to steering wheel switches. I found where it said if need to replace steering wheel switch need replace airbag. Airbag if need switch replacement. I am close to installing whole new horn setup if I have to. Standard off shelf horn, in-line fuse, horn push button and wiring total of $32.00. Any help on fix before I do this would be great. Thanks.

SOURCE: horn,airbag light,cruise control

ON CERTAIN MINIVANS, THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MAY BECOME DISABLED DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE CLOCKSPRING, WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE HUB OF THE STEERING WHEEL. Consequence Summary: THIS CONDITION WILL MANIFEST ITSELF THROUGH ILLUMINATION OF THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP, AND COULD EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A DRIVER'S AIR BAG OPEN CIRCUIT, IF THE PART IS NOT REPLACED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. Corrective Summary: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY ON ALL COVERED VEHICLES WITH 70,000 MILES OR LESS. FOR THOSE VEHICLES WITH MORE THAN 70,000 MILES, DAIMLERCHRYSLER WILL OFFER AN EXTENDED LIFETIME WARRANTY UNDER WHICH IT WILL REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING AT NO CHARGE IF IT FAILS. DAIMLERCHRYSLER WILL ALSO REIMBURSE OWNERS WHO HAVE PAID TO HAVE THE CLOCKSPRING REPLACED ON THEIR VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 12, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403. A malfunctioning clockspring can also effect your cruise control, radio, wipers, and your horn relay. This can also happen one at a time til none of these are working. The solotion is to get the clockspring replaced . I DO NOT suggest you doing this on your own!

SOURCE: 1997 Dodge Caravan Horn and Airbag light

It's the " clock spring " . Dodge has a lifetime recall / replacement on this part. Somehow it controls the air bag and is tied into the horn and cruise control .

Why did the horn stop working?

could be a relay fault or the horn insides have rusted up
put a multimeter on the horn wire and set it to volts then have some one press the horn button
if it reads 12 volts then replace the horn
if it reads nothing the do the exercise at the relay
if still nothing or there is no relay then the problem will be in the horn contact under the steering wheel hub

Horn doesnt work

Lift the hood of the truck. Locate the fuse box and lift the cover. Check the horn fuse listed on the cover of the fuse box. If the fuse is blown replace it. Have someone press the horn and listen for a faint click from the relay or swap the relay with another one with the same part number (IGN or AC) to test the relay. If you hear a faint click the horn switch on the steering wheel is good. If the horn works after swapping it with another, the relay is bad and you should order a new one. Remove the horn connector and check the voltage with a 12 volt lamp connected to the two wires or a volt meter when someone presses the horn switch. You can also directly wire the horn to the battery to see if it sounds. If it does not sound the horn is defective. If you do not have voltage check the black ground wire on the horn connector to see if it has zero ohms, or if you connect the 12 volt lamp from the black horn wire to the +12 of the battery the lamp should light. If not your ground wire is bad. I hope this helps you find your problem, but if you have any questions post a comment and I will answer your question.

Horn dosent work cant find relay 95 saturn sl2 2 wire horn

Could be the switches inside the steering wheel. But much easier to swap the relay first and remove it as a possibility. You can also jump 12 volts directly from the battery to the horn with a long heavy wire just to make sure the horn is good. Saturn relays are to the left of the passenger's knee
behind a velcro fastened panel.

I need to get a fuse box layout for 1999 Saturn SL2. The horn is not working in my sons car and we would like to determine whether or not it is the fuse. We can't tell which fuse is for the horn because...

The saturn horns ARE notorious for failing, you may have to replace the horn because it has a built in horn relay that is the cause of the failure. YOU WILL KEEP BLOWING FUSES if the horn is not working because it's grounding out through the bad relay that is built into the horn. DON'T go with a loud or aftermarket horn if you don't know how to wire it safely or you will fry the clock spring in the steering wheel, just stick with the stock horn and you will be fine.

Horn does not work

Check fuse, if ok have somone use a volt meter while you depress the horn, and see if you are getting 12 volts, if you are not and the fuse is good, then it is the relay, if you have 12 volts to the horn wire, then the horn is bad.

No horn

You have to test the wiring between the relay and the horn. First make sure that you have 12 volts at the relay terminal that feeds the horn, then make sure that the wire on the horn is getting the 12 volts when you push the button. Finally make sure the ground is good where the horn is mounted. If the ground is bad, run a ground wire from the engine block or battery to the point where the horn is mounted.

If all wiring is good, then you need a new horn

On my 1994 plymouth voyager the 3 wire harness to fuel pump (blue wire) doesn't have 12 volts; should it? fuel pump quit then worked once when hot-wired with 12 volts. fuse and relay is good.

The wire should not be hot until the relay is triggered. The relay does not get triggered until the ignition key is turned on. It will run for 3-5 seconds or until the system pressure it at max.

1999 toyota corolla Horn doesn't work.

Usually the wire from the steering wheel is Green w/Red and the wire to the horn from the fuse box is White. There is only one fuse, sometimes shared with the emergency lights. Check to see if there is power to the horn itself with a volt meter.
