The nissan sentra has a timing chain which should last the entire life of the car and should not require changing
If it has DOHC ist has two chains. The tensioners do wear out. Will need to have it looked at around 150K. Pull the valve cover off and you can see the top chain and sprockets. Inspect for sprocket wear (or broken teeth) and chain tension. If you drive like granny, you might get to 200K or further. If the chains do need replaced, do the water pump at the same time. Cost at Nissan is $1500. to $2000.
DEPENDS ON YEAR ?ALL 90s USE A CHAIN "AFTER 2003 BELIEVE THEY USED A BELT" & MR PAUL MILES U ARE INCORRECT 90s NISSANS HAV CHAINS & A CHAIN TENSIONER & IT MUST BE REPLACED AT 140000 U WILL HEAR A CLAP CLAP CLAP COMING FROM PASS SIDE OF ENGINE ! THATS THE CHAIN SLAPING AGAINST THE WORN OUT TENSIONER IT WEARS OUT LIKE A BRAKE PAD & IF U DON'T CHANGE IT U WILL HAV ENGINE FAIL LIKE I DID
SOURCE: I have Nissan sentra GX 2002 90000Miles ,change timing belt?
I own this car, and I can say confidently that it has a timing chain instead of a belt. I believe you do not need to change the chain at any point...... it is more a matter of maintenance and repair to worn guides and tensioners.

The timing chain doesn't really have a maintenance period. They don't have a habit of breaking or stretching. Timing belts on some vehicles do have a recomended replacement period. Locate your local NTB, Firestone, or Sears for the maintenance schedule.
