Having an intermittent crank no start condition. Does it when ever it feels like it. Can crank and will not start. Turn key off and sometimes may start and sometimes will have to turn off and retry again. Sometimes will start and then die. Replaced the battery several months ago. Does the system have to be reset after battery replacement? ie: we have a 2006 Explorer and after battery replacement wouldn't keep running. In svc. manual under battery replacement says have to do certain things to reset system. Wondering if this might be the case.

I was having the same problem yesterday. My battery charged fine but would not crank again if I turned it off. I took the battery to a parts store to have it checked and it was good. While I was there a mechanic came in and told me that he has towed a lot of chevys with the same problem. He told me to go home and put the battery back on and see if it would crank. IT DID! He said that the battery cables will tighten and loosen on their own on a side mount battery so check that first. You may have to completely remove the battery and then put it back on. GOOD LUCK. It worked for mine and only cost a little gas to the parts store. Hope it works for you also.

Starting problem

I am having the same problem with my 1998 Accord LX. I realized that when I turn the key and the green key light does not come on my accord has no chance of starting. I changed the main relay thinking that was what I needed to do but I was wrong. The car still does not start. Before I changed the main relay there was a chance for the car to start after so long. But now nothing. I am stumped because I read about related issues and I feel it could be the starter, or the interlock relay, or the ignition switch, or it can also be that my car just doesn't recognize my key anymore and I need it reprogrammed. I am stumped. Have you found anything?

Intermittent no start condition

I had an intermittent no-start condition on my 2005 Saturn Vue. These are totally different vehicles, so this is only a suggestion of theory, not an actual fix. Sometimes the vehicle would do NOTHING on a key turn. No lights, no clicking, nothing. The only thing that saved me was that it broke hard while under warranty. It took them a week.

Problem was a bad connection on the theft immobilizer system. The ECU was sensing ignition switch tampering. On the molex style connectors, the pins are retained in the connector by a tiny little tab. One single pin was loose on a connector under the fuse block.
