Need a wiring diagram for a 98 camaro 3.8L for the alternator

Sorry can't help with a wiring diagram for the alternator but mostly the wiring is fairly intuitive. Most basic modern (machine sensed) alternators have only two wires which aren't interchangeable. 1 thick wire goes direct to a battery live and the other is a thin wire that is from the ignition or battery light.
Some alternators are mounted in rubber bushes and need an additional ground to the casing.

Battery sensed alternators have an additional (thin) live wire that eventually goes to a battery live after meandering around behind the dash for a few yards.

A few manufacturers have fitted a smart charging alternator that is controlled by a small ecu from information supplied by the engine management ecu but generally where ther are more than two wires multiway plugs are used.

The alternator will be somewhere on the front of the engine. IE/ being an "east west " engine, look to the side of the engine as the engine is mounted sideways. Follow the drive belt and you will find it.

Replace the alternator in a 2007 jeep compass limited

First..,Get new part and also a new belt if belt has never been changed..Make sure part is correct,Use safety glasses..Be sure engine is cold..,Notice sticker under hood that shows belt routing diagram..If there isn't a sticker you can hand draw your own..Disconnect battery ground cable..Remove serpentine belt..If you have never replaced a serpentine belt it will get you confused but it is VERY EASY..It should have a diagram of how it is removed on the sticker showing the belt..The salesman at the parts store can show you easier than I can tell you..After removing belt ..,inspect all pulleys for tightness or any type of wobble..Look for any small shines of metal fragments around pulleys..Spin pulleys to make sure they don't have a worn bearing noise and they spin freely......If one seems damaged now is the time to replace it...remove wiring from alternator carefully..Remove alternator mounting bolts..Use a small pry bar or large flat screwdriver to pry the alternator carefully at both sides upward to remove it..It has a small bushing inside of the lower mounting holes which slides in and out to help keep alternator in position. The old alternator is to be turned in to parts store for a core credit so try not to damage it....Lube mounting holes of new alternator so it will slide into place smoothly..Install bolts and get them all hand tight then snug each bolt lightly until they are all seated then torque each bolt..Torque tight but DONT OVER TIGHTEN..It should be no more than 40lbs.torque..carefully connect alternator wiring..Install new belt..Doublecheck everything..,remove all tools from under hood..Coonect battery and start engine for safety check...

Here you go. Hope this helps :)

Instructions
    • 1
Lift the Expedition's hood manually. Remove the negative battery cable end from the negative battery terminal using the battery wrench. Make sure to put the cable end in a place where it cannot accidentally contact the battery during the repairicon1.png.
    • 2
Examine the serpentine belt routing diagram for the location of the Expedition's automatic belt tensioner. The Expedition's belt routing diagram is on the fan shroud.

    • 3
Move the automatic belt tensioner off the belt with the serpentine belt tool. Pull the belt off the alternator pulley by hand before releasing the pressure on the tensioner with the tool and allowing the tensioner to slowly move back into position.
    • 4
Remove the Expedition's charging circuit harness from the back of the alternator by hand. Remove the ground strap for the alternator's ground stud using the socket set.
    • 5
Remove the mounting bolts that hold the alternator to the alternator bracket using the socket set. Lift the alternator out of the Expedition's engine bay by hand. Set the replacement alternator into the alternator bracket manually.
    • 6
Install the alternator mounting bolts by hand first and then tighten them with the socket set. Connect the charging circuit harness by hand. Bolt the ground strap to the ground stud with the socket set.
    • 7
Reinstall the serpentine belt onto the alternator pulley by reversing your removal method. Bolt the negative battery cableicon1.png back onto the battery using the battery wrench. Close the Expedition's hood.

Hello! First see Serpentine Belt configuration diagram below... Alternator is part "C"...

If you have a voltmeter...read across the battery with engine off...Record...Start engine read again...Voltage must be 1.8 -2 volts higher; This means Alternator is working...

To Remove:disconnect (-) battery cable...Air Inlet Duct...Serpentine Belt (idler pulley maintains tension)...Heater hose brace...Wiring from Alternator...Mounting bolts...Remove alternator...

To Install: Install Alternator loosely...Tighten Rear Bolt to 37 ft. lbs...Front bolt to 18ft. lbsTighten Brace to Intake to 18ft lbs....Connect wiring...Install belt...Adjust Idler Pulley so belt moves less than 3/4" when tight...Connect (-) battery cable....Re-test as noted above...Guru...........Saaile

I need a diagram and instuctions to replace a alternator

Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Release the tension on the accessory drive belt so that you can remove the drive belt from the pulley.Take off the mounting bolt on the right side of the alternator with a socket wrench and remove the bracket for the power steering hose. Remove the mounting bolts on top of the alternator, the front passenger wheel and tire assembly and the front fender splash shield. Remove the alternator splash shield with a socket wrench and take off the inspection cover for the torque converter. Mount a tool to hold the flywheel so you can remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley. Lower the alternator so you can unplug its electrical connections. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor and Oxygen sensor connector. Remove the lower alternator mounting bolt and B+ connector nut to remove the alternator. Install the new alternator assembly by reversing the above procedure. Use a torque wrench to tighten the B+ connector nut to 71 inch lbs. and the lower alternator bolt to 18 foot pounds. Torque the crankshaft pulley bolt to 74 foot pounds, the upper alternator bolts to 18 foot pounds and the nut for the power steering hose bracket to 13 foot pounds

Need info on how to change the alternator on 93 sunbird and maybe a diagram if possible

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery.

CAUTION Failure to disconnect the negative cable may result in injury from the positive battery lead at the alternator, and may short the alternator and regulator during the removal process.

  1. Disconnect and label the two terminal plug and the battery leads from the rear of the alternator.

How to install 03 ford focus alternator?

Removing the Alternator
Disconnect battery ground cable
Remove the ground wire (black) from the alternator
Disconnect the positive wire (red wire held on by a retaining nut) from the back of the alternator
Now disconnect the wire harness from the alternator
Remove the drive belt
NOTE: Some models use a belt tensioner that applies tension to the drive belt.
The best tool to use for this job is the serpentine belt too.
If you can borrow one from a neighbour you can get one at PartSource. (Part# 648451)
On other models you will have to loosen the adjusting bolt on the alternator bracket.
If you're not sure about how to remove the drive belt, visit your local PartSource for free print outs of vehicle specific instructions.
Take off the mounting bolts from the alternator bracket
Now remove the alternator from the engine compartment There. You've removed the alternator. How easy was that?
Installing Your New Alternator
Put the alternator in the engine compartment
Install the mounting bolts that connect the alternator to the alternator bracket
Connect the alternator wiring harness
Now connect the positive wire to the alternator
NOTE: Your new alternator should come with a retaining nut.
Remember to remove the nut before you install the positive wire.
If it doesn't keep the old nut.
Connect the ground wire to the alternator
Now install the drive belt
This is a great time to replace your old worn out belt. When inspecting your old belt look for signs of cracking, oil soaked, hard glazed, splitting or fraying.
All these signs mean it's time you replaced your drive belt.
If your vehicle no longer has the belt routing diagram under the hood, visit your local PartSource for a free print out of the belt routing diagram.
Reconnect the ground battery cable .
