I just put a rebuilt engine in my 92 wrangler, and had the trany rebuilt. the engine runs and you can drive the jeep. the problem is the speedomiter does not work and if slowing down for a stoplight as the rpm comes down when you put it in neutral it does not stableize at idle, it drops till the engine stalls. the electronic speed sensor and camshaft indicator have been replaced.

SOURCE: I have a 92 GMC stepside and its lifted about 4.5

if the rear end is original and the size of the tires are not to big it should register about right. The speedometer in almost every vehicle runs off the speed of the transmission, not the actual tires.
For those who have off-road vehicles and put larger tires on for better performance on the trail, the speedometer will be affected. Since there is more surface area and a larger circumference on the outside edge of the tire, the wheels will actually spin slower at any given speed than the stock tires would. have a good day !

My 1992 wrangler won't roll at all. It starts fine, and stays running but when I try to put it in gear it stalls out. Even in neutral, I can't seem to push it to get it rolling. Any suggestions?

This sounds bad, even in neutral it stalls, you cant even push it. i would start by putting the transfer case selector in neutral and see if it rolls, if this jeep is only two wheel drive then start by jack the front wheels up and do this for the four wheel drive also, this is to see if its in the trany or the wheel, check and see if you can spin the wheels in the front, if this is two wd then if the wheels dont spin then you have a problem with the brakes but what concerns me is that it stalls in neutral, i would have to say the problem is in the trany and if this is a stick shift trany i would say the clutch broke and will not release but when its in neutral it should roll. anyway do the same in the rear wheels, jack them up and see if the wheels move, if they dont then remove the driveshaft at the rearend and then see if the wheels move. if the wheels turn with shaft off then theres a problem with the trany oor transfer case if its 4wd, if its 2wheel drive then its something in the trany, if the wheels dont spin with shaft off then start truck and see if it still stalls but dont let it go into gear with driveshaft off you will not be able to stop driveshaft when disconnected, just see if it stalls in neutral. good luck.

I have a '92 jeep wrangler with a 4-cylinder. When you are driving down the road it surges. Does anyone have some advice on this problem. Could it be or is it the injectors? And do you have to take it...

I dont think there are any injection parts in this 92 engine, just good old carburator. Which is most likely causing the surges. And you should definitely take it to the garage, it could eventuelly blow up and wreck the whole engine for good.

92 wrangler wont go into four wheel

If you have an actuator box on the passenger front axle that may be disconnected or broken. If not remove the cover from the front differential and check the gears...they may be broken.

Can I tow my 4X4 auto grand cherokee behind a Mtr Hm? I will put everything in N (transfer case & Trany)

I have a jeep wrangler and to have it towed you are suppose to put the transverecase in neutral after you first depress brake pedal put trans in neutral then start engine shift auto trans into drive release brake pedal make sure there is no movement, shut engine off with key left in acc position shift auto trans into park, disconnect neg battery cable (damage can result in trans if shifted into park while transvere case is in neutral with engine running) you should refere to your owners manuel

92 Jeep Wrangler will not Stay running.

I had the same prblm with my 1989 Jeep, 6 cyl straight, and it was because of the EGR valve, easy to replace and not too costly. EGR valve is screwed on the motor, driver side, and there is a ±1/2" rubber hose attached. Easy to see if device comes apart, cut by rust.
