Hello! The Inhibitor relay is more than likely not pulling...If the vehicle is an automatic the selector switch passes battery when in park on a yellow wire to the relay...If a standard the clutch switch passes ground...if manual, relay is called clutch interlock...located under hood...passenger side fender...Automatic...called interlock relay...drivers side fender to the right of air intake...diagram may be to small to read but I'm limited on size...Light Green wire on clutch switch supplies ground when switch is closed pulling relay...Yellow wire off gear selector switch (park) supplies battery to the inhibitor relay...Wish I knew if your vehicle was man. or auto...See if proper batt. or gnd. is present to pull relay...If proper potential is present and the relay does not pull it is defective...Send a comment...

I have a 2003 gmcj Yukon wont crank or turn over with the key but will turn over if I jump starter relay but no crank

Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? What a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter is ? How to use them to diagnose electrical systems ? Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. Year , make , model an engine . Under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on starting . Click the search button then the blue link. Looking at the diagram I see that when the ignition switch is turned to start it sends a B+ voltage signal to the PCM- this is the engine computer , If there is B+voltage from the IGN E fuse 10 amp to the starter relay , coil side ,an there is no anti-theft system problems the PCM will supply a ground to the control side , there by energizing the relay an sending battery voltage to the S terminal on the starter solenoid . By pulling the relay out of the fuse box an testing for B+ & control etc... using a voltmeter you can isolate the problem .

2000 JIMMY 4.3 WONT START AND KEEP BLOWING MAIN 40AMP FUSESE

What all does that fused supply B+ voltage too ? Do you know ? That would be your first thing to find out ! Do you know what a electrical distribution diagram is ? Do you know how to test electrical circuits with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? Do you know what a short to ground is ?
Which fuse ? IGN A - 40 amp ,under hood fuse / relay box ? This fuse powers the Starter Relay and Ignition and Start Switch
Does your vehicle have a manual or automatic transmission ? The starter relay could be shorted inside , It's also located in the under hood fuse box . If you pull the relay out of the box it's plugged into an look on the bottom of it you would see four sets of numbers ! 30 & 87 an 85 & 86 . If you were to jump 30 to 87 in the relay box the starter should spin the engine over , not start an run just spin ! 85 & 86 is the control side . Could be the ignition switch !
That 40amp fuse powers a lot of subsystems !

Here is a web site for free diagrams !
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine , Under system click on electrical distribution , under sub system click on power distribution . Then click the search button .Click blue links one at a time . First blue link scroll down to the second diagram . You will see Ign A 40 amp fuse at the top of the page .you will also see it powers the igintion switch ,look at last part of ignition switch , when in start or run that 40 amp fuse powers all those other fuse's plus three relays i see there also . A/C compressor relay , rear window defroster relay ,daytime running lights . Any one of those circuits could have your short . You need to isolate the circuits , pull fuse's till the fuse doesn't blow !

Replacing a fuse engine won't start 2005 Hummer h2

Is the anti-theft light lit on the instrument cluster ? Won't start how ? When you turn the key to start , what happens ? Nothing ? This would be a No crank - no start condition . Now if you turn the key to start and the starter engages and spins the engine and it doesn't start an run , this is a engine cranks no start condition ! Now which is your problem ?

There are two fuse's IGN A fuse 40amp and IGN E fuse 10amp ,both are located in the under hood fuse/relay box . Also there is starter relay located in the same under hood fuse /relay box . There also is a crank fuse 10amp in the under hood fuse box . Besides the fuse's and relay ,the ignition switch or the PNP - park neutral position switch could be bad . Testing the whole starter circuit should be done ! How to voltage drop test starter motor circuit

Assuming battery Ok, check main fuse box (usually under bonnet) and if fuses ok it could be a stuck relay. If there are identical relays in that box you could try swapping them with battery first disconnected.

94 ford escort lx. Only clicks at relay when trying to start. Replaced battery, ignition relay, neutral safety switch, ignition switch, starter tests good. Power going to starter but no power to exciter...

if you have battery power on the large terminal at the starter and the same on the smaller wire when someone Is turning the key to start and the starter has a good ground then the starter is bad drawing too much amperage causing the clicking sound.

My 2000 bravada oldsmobile wont start is it the sartaer

It depends upon what actually happens when you turn the key. If the engine turns over, but doesn't start, it is NOT the starter. If all you hear is a clicking sound, or the starter motor engages but doesn't have the power to turn it over, then it could be wither the starter or the battery. A quick and easy check when this happens is to turn on the interior light. If, when you turn the key and get the click or no activity, the interior light dims way down or goes completely out, it is probably the battery. If you turn the key and get nothing at all, things are more difficult. The interior lamp test should be performed. If the light goes out immediately, try the battery. If the light doesn't flicker or dim at all, then the problem could be the starter, the starter relay, the Park/Neutral Position (PNO) switch, the ignition switch, or the IGN E (Fuse 22) or IGN A (Fuse 34) fuse in the fuse block under the hood.

My 2006 buick lacrosse wont start radio and lights work but its not saying nothing when i try to crank it

Hello! Do you hear a click when the key is turned?...If no click is heard either the ignition key, the Crank relay, the starter, or the battery are suspect...Having lights and radio does not mean the battery is capable of running a starter motor......Put a meter on the battery...should read 12.5 volts...Turn key...Does voltage drop to 8 or 9 volts? Bad battery...If all is well with battery and connections to it...Check the starter fuse # 33 in the under hood fuse/relay box...If the fuse is good that click you should hear is from the Crank Relay in that box...If all of the above is OK connect your meter to the Purple wire that is connected to the starter motor...When the key is turned 12 volts must be on that wire...If there is the starter motor is defective...So, #1...Do you hear a click when key is turned...That would point at a bad starter or weak battery...#2...If you do not hear a click bad fuse #33, bad Crank Relay, bad ignition switch...#3...If fuse is good Bad Crank Relay or Ignition switch; Crank Relay is a low cost item ($10)...Replace Relay...Stop there and send a comment as to results...Guru...saailer

My GMC safari 2004 has been blowing Ignition 1 fuse (40 amps) at the moment I turn key to start position, even without starter disconnected it blowed but i replaced the fuse and i removed the starter r

The problem could be a shorted park netual safety switch . Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? It shows all the componets involved in a electrical circuit ! You IGN.1 fuse 40amp , GM calls it IGN A fuse 40 amp . It feeds the ignition switch and pin 30 at the starter enable relay .When you turn the key to the start position it sends B+ voltage to #8 crank fuse , located in the I/P fuse box ,from there it goes to the park netual safety switch , to pin 86 or 85 of the starter enable relay ! If you pull the relay out of the fuse box an look on the bottom you will see this four set's of numbers ,30,87 & 85 ,86 You can test at the fuse box where the relay plugs in . Here is a video on how to test . The guy presenting the video uses a horn circuit , but it works the same way . It happens a lot , the park netual safety switch shorting out . It may or may not be the problem . VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis
Here is a web site for free wiring diagrams
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter your vehicle info . then under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on starting . Then click on the search button an a link will pop up , click on it .You will see all the componets , connections , wiring colors etc... for the starter circuit for your vehicle .

Go to start and needles on dash bounce as if they have a pulse

Hi...
I read your problem.
Is there a few step to diagnostic or try to fix your car.

Follow this simple steps.
Inspect the RALAY " Starter relay # 47. or interchange with other one just for testing.
1- Check the Fuse " IGN E Fuse number 22 " 10amp. on under hood fuse BOX fron Neutro swicth
And power to the power to the Neutro safetly switch.
2-- Check the Fuse " CRANK fuse # 17 10amp. Under hood fuse box. 12v. from Ignition switch
3- check the fuse " IGN A fuse # 34 40 amp. under hodd fuse box. Constant 12v. to relay.
With ignition switch in ON position.
Crank Fuse only when you try to start. If no power 12v. come when trying to start.
REmove the steering column covers. to get axces to the IGNITION SWITCH.
Trying to start check if 12 v on the YELLOW wire exist. if not. Check if there a 12v on the RED wire
If not Inspect FUSE # 34.
But if there a power on the red wire But not ON yellow wire Trying to start.
Just REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH. Electrical part.

Check the NEUTRO SAFETLY SWITCH. connector under the car. Repair as need.
CHeck the BACK-UP lights, some times come damaged making a short on the Neutro safetly switch. ...

OK.. I hope this help on your problem.
If you need more information letme know.
