At lower speeds (30-40mph), the rpm's fluctuate about 200 rpm's up and down at steady pedal pressure and speed, but goes away when you let off the pedal or accelerate (or at higher speeds). What's going on here? Throttle position sensor (or some electronic sensor), or the infamous torque converter? Still have warranty with the used car dealer I bought it from.

Hi, Due to fact you still have warranty I strongly recommend to take it back to where you purchased as otherwise they can claim you have created the problem by messing with it. Sounds like faulty RPM Gauge or slight air leak in fuel side. This is best I can advise as you do not state model or make of vehicle, still take it back to dealer 1st. Please leave me feedback, Malcolm Campbell.

SOURCE: TRANSMISSION/TACHOMETER

On the top of the motor there is a sensor just behind the oil fill cap. This sensor controls the tach and the trans shift points and torque converter lockup. If it is not working it will burn up the torque converter and trans.

SOURCE: Acceleration issue

Just a suggestion, but the EGR valve can cause that problem. If that checks ok, then I would have the catalytic converter checked for clogging. Both ideas would cause that specific problem. I sincerely hope that this can solve the problem, or at least head you in the right direction. Best wishes.

1. Fuel Pump pressure too low
2. Dirty air or fuel filter
3. Plug wires running parallel for more than 6" )cross em over each other or you get crossfire)
4. Crack in Intake manifold or split end on one of your vacuum lines or vacuum cap plugs

SOURCE: Car jerks while driving at steady speeds

Did you have the wires replaced also?? If not I would replace both the plugs & the wires all at the same time. You may have carbon tracking on your wires & plugs. What Year is Saturn?? If it's a 91-94 You most likely have a EGR Valve floating due to a weak internal spring. It will cause a surge miss at constant throttle.Hope This Helps!!

My 2004 jag xj8 is surging at speed of 40 to 65, the RPM goes up and down 200 to 400 rpm.

It's possible one of your ignition coils went out if you have a check engine light have it scanned it will pinpoint that issue.

Rpm's fluctuate at idle

The oil pressure quage is moving around because the engine is slowing down and speeding up. As far as the idle surging goes try this.

While driving and holding steady speed, the rpm's fluctuate 200-300 rpm's

How many miles are on this vehicle? Is the engine light on? If so, can you have the codes read? RPM fluctuation can be anything (both caused by mechanical or electrical changes or failure/s). Fuel pressure, engine compression, 02 sensors, worn or sticking TAC unit, vacuum leak, poor fuel quality, dirty or defective MAF sensor, clogged air filter, old spark plugs, excessive exhaust back pressure, stretched timing chain, over due oil change, worn or damaged throttle pedal, or worn out spark plugs. These can all cause your symptoms. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Code p0740 on 2001 grande cherokee laredo v6 auto

That is a torque converter traction control clutch failure. A test to see if the TCC is failing is to drive at steady highway speed (straight, flat and lite foot pressure on gas pedal) and lightly tap brake pedal. Not enough to slow the car just enough to turn on the brake light. This should cause the engine rpm to rise by 200-300 rpm. If it doesn't then the TCC is probably bad. The really bad news is a trans rebuild will run you anywhere from 2200 to 3900. Find a reputable trans shop and have them do a more definitive troubleshooting and they will be able to give a closer price.

My 98 dodge ram vibrates bad at 40 mph plus at a steady low rpm. if i step on the gas it kinda stops and if i let go of the gas is stops completely it also started misfiring when it started this

Torque convertor shutter? Maintain the speed that it does this, and with your left foot, apply a small amount of pressure to the brake pedal. Not enough to slow vehicle, but enough to disengage the lock up convertor. If it goes away, try servicing the fluid with new 7176. if that doesnt do it, replace the convertor.

Should the oil pressure gauge fluctuate with speed

The oil pressure guage will fluctuate with engine RPM. At idle it should be approximately 20 lbs./sq.in, at high revs about 50-60 lbs./sq.in. Hope this helps any concerns you may have. Good luck!

1993 chevy pickup hard starting and tach oscilates 200 rpm up and down

sounds more likley you have an air leak this will cause bad starting as it is sucking air in instead of fuel when its cold and wnen it warms up idling will be eratic and misfire check all hoses gaskets relating to the inlet manifold or if its done that kind of mileage crankcase pressure could be the problem but i suspect an air leak yates210456

Envoy 2004 idle speed

Hi
your problem seems very easy :) hope this one work with your envoy. Just buy AC DELCO carburetor tune-up conditioner.

How you use it: engine running , AC off please

1. detached the big black airflow hose which is attached in the mannifold of the engine block.

2. ask your friend to step on the gas pedal and set the rpm steady in 2000 rpm only.

3. then spray vigorously in 8 seconds the inside circle opening of mannifold while your friend steady step on gas pedal with steady 2000 RPM only.

4. after you spray, let your freind continue on gas pedal with 2000 rpm for 15 more seconds.

5. attached back the airflow big black hose to the manifold and you are ready to roll with your AC on.

if this one doesnt work, please scan your envoy by scanner called TECH II. and find out.
