These are notorious for rear end failure and a new set of bearings is not extremly expensive as a new set of gears and bearings will be. The rear end will need to be inspected by a professional , this is not a job for a do it your selfer. There are 6 bearings , 2 pinion bearings , 2 side bearings and 2 axle bearings. Pinion bearing noise will change pitch from acceleration to deceleration. Side bearing and axle bearing noise change pitch with road speed. Dana 35 series( oval cover) differentials tend to eat pinion bearings and dana 44 differentials ( diamond shape cover) tend to eat side bearings. If you have one bad bearing i would replace the all.
Rear wheel bearing.
Its most likely the ring gear and pinion noise in the rear end those vehicles are notorious for that i know mine is and everyone that i know that has owned those Chrysler trucks/suv especially as issues with not only rear ends but transmissions as well
Check your tire pressure first. Depending on the type of tire, such as an all terrain tire, low pressure would cause them to make a lot of road noise. You might rotate the tires front to back. If that doesn't make any difference in the noise, check the lube in the rear differential. I suctioned my old lube out and refilled it with new gear oil. Made a world of difference.
