I put new plugs in and there is no change. a few times that it died, it took a minute or two for the engine to start back up. Hi Mosso, Yes it definitely could be. Reset it with a stroboscopic timing light. It could also be leaking vacuum hoses so check them all for tightness of fit and make sure there are not any which are damaged. Regards John
if you have'nt replaced those spark plugs and wires lately, you need to.and also, lucas fuel treatment, in my personal opinion,is the very best for unclogging fuel lined and injectors.it being below a 1999 model and your check engine light is on, you can have it coderead for free if you're near anautozone or advance automotive parts store. they will code read it and tell you why that check engine lights coming on.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com
Have you relapced the fuel pump and filter? Take it to a garage and have the fuel pump pressure checked. It very common for fuel pumps or a clog in the line to cause this.
1997 dodge dakota Hi.. check this out it's a website very useful. I bought a manual last year and it very simple and easy.. no need of mechanics. saves a lot of money and time and makes you capable of repairing yourself.
On back side of throttle body you will find a air idle control it will have torx bolts and an electrical plug remove it and clean it with carb cleaner it will solve your problem.
try replacing the coil, my 2.5 did the same thing, and after changing plugs, wires, distributor, rotor, rotor button . the last thing i repalced was the coil and i have not had an issue since. all work was done about 6 months ago.
all the sudden the check engine light came on and it started to idle funny and dying at stops. I had a diagnostic done on it and changed out the idle air control valve but it doent seem any different. and the check engine light is still throwing the same code. we adjusted the idle up so i could drive it with out it dying but it is still acting funny.
