I have changed the thermostat and it is still overheating. where is the fuse for the fan switch relay and how do i tell if the fan switch relay is the problem.
The relay sits under the hood in a black box.If your not handy with a volt meter or test light you wont be able to tell if the relay is bad.You could just replace the relay as its cheap and pops in like a fuse or you can unplug the fan and run a wire to the positive side of the battery,if the fan comes on the relay is most likley the issue if the fan doesent come on then the fan may be faulty. If you turn the air conditioning on the fan should come on,if it does i would check the water pump.
Drive the vehicle around and warm it up,now go back home and park it with it running, set the e brake, pop the hood.Watch the fans with the engine running, they should come on and blow for awhile. If they do not come on,turn on your air conditioning on and go back and check the fans again. If they come on with the a/c,then the fans are capable, just not being commanded to come on.If the fans do not come on at all, then you need to check/replace fuses and relays.
Got your cure just behind the pasenger side headlight is a sensor you wiill see it unplugs you may have to take the bumper off maybe not.Replace that coolant sensor .
