I just read an answer post you had made in response to a question about a 2003 Chevy Astro van vacuum line keeping the vents from switching from defrost to floor, to dash vents, etc., you mentioned changing about 2 a week. How right your were! This is oustanding information. I think it's a 1/8" hose tagged 22 at the plastic "T" fitting. I have a 2003 Astro with the same problem. One more question for you, the hose is britle, dried out and breaking, I can't seem to reach were it attaches closer to the drivers side. Happen to know what it connects to? Thank you!

I didn't initially answer your question, or even read it but I know what you are talking about. The source vacuum to the HVAC system inside the van. It attaches to a vacuum port on the left side of the engine just above valve cover attached to a bracket. They are very brittle plastic and break easily. I found it better to replace the vacuum line with small rubber line, such as washer fluid hose. Its easier to route and can be installed without bending plastic. Feed it from the left side vacuum "T" above the left valve cover, over to the heater valve on the right side in heater hose split. Its the source vacuum to inside, and if lost it defaults to the defrost mode and won't change modes.

I have a 2003 Chevy Astro Van and the air does not blow out of the dash vents. Is the problem the control module? If so, where is it located?

Check vacuum line running from left side of fuel injection to the right side by the blower motor it is a small diameter line. if that came apart you will only get air coming out of defroster exits.

I need a vacuum line schematic for a 2003 Chevy Astro Van. My AC only blows out of the defroster vents. I've replaced 2 lines so far but it has not fixed the problem yet.

Replace the complete heater control vacuum line over the motor with rubber vacuum tubing.
The heater vacuum line connects on the drivers side of the engine halfway back on the intake manifold.Run the new line to the heater vac connection at the passenger side at the right front in the engine compartment.
I change 2 a week....this should be where your problem is.

AC blows through defrost and floor vents instead of ac vents

You have a vacuum leak in the system that controls the vent doors. First check for cracks at the vacuum reservoir, then check the various vacuum hoses and vacuum motors for a leak.

2003 Astro van - power locks & AC issues...

There is a vacuum line that goes from the vacuum reservoir (usually next to the bottom of the passenger side engine) up and across the top of the engine to connect on the driver side of the engine. The vaccum line cracks/leeaks and will not allow the vent vacuum actuators to function. Replace the line. Use a thicker wall buts same inside diameter rubber vaccuum hose. Probably under $5. People waste a bunch of time replacing the actuators, switches, etc. Its just the vacuum line and poor original placement/design.

2002 Astro van ventilation fan problems.

The problem is a 1/8 diameter hose that runs from the front of the engine over the top and connects at the rear of engine on the drivers side. It is a vacuum hose #GM15967970 It cost about $6.22 at your GM dealer. Hope this helps Bill. My E-Mail is [email protected]
