You may have a fuel issue the cheapest thing to do is a simple fuel filter replacement an old filter can cause backups in the gas line. Also check to make sure your air cleaner assembly is fully hooked up and no hoses or clamps are loose. less air cause these same symptoms.

Did you check fuel filter. if plugged it will starve for fuel. so when you push pedal down it will bog down. especially up hills or grades. lack of power. also it is a good idea to check air filter. if above does not work replace plugs if need be. good-luck !

My 1997 Ford F150 won't idle. It starts and runs as long as I apply pressure to the accelerator. There is a surge between 800 - 1000rpms. Check engine light is not on. The motor is a 5.4

sounds like a vacuum leak. If the codes are P0174 and P0171 tan for sure you have a vacuum leak. It is not uncommon [for the plenum gaskets to leak where they meet up with the heads. Spraying some carb spray around the lower intake and listening for a change in PM will help confirm this. It is also common for the PCV hoses crack causing the same symptom.

2003 vw jetta wolfsburg bogs on early acceleration

Don't know if it applies to your diesel but most later gas engined vehicles have a 'cold start' valve that supplies additional fuel to the fuel/air mix along with boosting the idle speed until some warming of the engine is sensed.
