Already replaced starter, power cable to starter from battery, ignition switch, and battery. Car starts quickly at times, then at times nothing, no starter click, nothing. It starts always a few minutes later, or up to 30 minutes later all of a sudden.Solenoid has also been replaced recently. Security light on dashboard always lights when then there is no ignition or attempt for starter to click on. Ground wires seem alright. What can I look for?

My car won't start, power to everything up until you turn the key the last bit.

Could be: park netural switch, battery, battery cable, starter or just battery connections. check the b. connections first. Have you tried to jump it?
Check for power to the starter by having somebody else try to start it while you check for power there. If there is power replace starter if not check the above.

I drove my 1999 accord EX to work & 8 hrs. later I tried to start it and it did nothing. Tried jumping still nothing. Put new battery on and it still did nothing. What is the problem?

Hi, diagnosing a no-start condition requires a logical approach to figuring out what might be preventing your car from starting. First, if the engine won't even crank over when you turn the ignition to START, your car obviously won't start.
When you turn the ignition key to start your car, voltage from the battery flows through the ignition switch to the Park/Neutral safety switch and/or brake pedal or clutch pedal safety switch (you have to push the pedal down before the circuit will complete) to the starter relay or solenoid. When the relay or solenoid is energized by voltage from the ignition switch circuit, it closes a contact that routes more power from the battery directly to the starter to crank the engine. The starter motor spins, pushes the starter drive gear to engage the flywheel and cranks the engine.

If the engine fails to crank, there is a fault in one of the components in the battery/ignition/starter circuit.

Ten Reasons why you car won't start..
  1. Low battery (Check battery voltage, recharge if low, or jump start with another vehicle or battery charger).
  2. Loose or corroded battery cables (Inspect, clean and tighten BOTH ends of BOTH battery cables).
  3. Bad starter relay wiring connections or ground connection (Inspect, clean, tighten wiring connections).
  4. Bad starter relay/solenoid (Check for voltage at relay, if relay has voltage but there is no "click" when key is turned to start, replace relay).
  5. Bad starter (Jump battery voltage direct to starter to see if it spins, or remove starter and have it bench tested at auto parts store).
  6. Damaged starter drive or teeth on flywheel (Remove starter and inspect drive gear and flywheel teeth, replace damaged parts if necessary).
  7. Bad ignition switch (Check to see if voltage reaches starter relay/solenoid when turn to start. If not, check for open P/N switch and brake or clutch pedal switch. Replace ignition switch if defective).
  8. Open P/N safety switch, or open Brake Pedal Safety Switch (automatic transmission) or open Clutch Pedal Switch (manual transmission). Bypass switch with jumper wire to see if engine cranks, or use test light or voltmeter to check for voltage passing through switch when ignition is turned to start.
  9. Engine seized due to bearing failure or internal damage (Use socket and long handle to see if engine can be turned by hand, if not engine is locked up).
  10. Engine hydrolocked due to coolant leak from leaky head gasket (Use socket and wrench to see if engine rotates, remove spark plugs and see if coolant comes out or engine can not be cranked with plugs out).

Hope it helps identify and solve the problem

96 Olds Aurora wont start nothing happens when i turn the key, battery is good.

CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR POWER TO GAUGES TO SEE IF THEY WORK WHILE IGNITION IS IN THE ON POSITION.IF NO CHECK THE 40 AMP IGNITION FUSE.IF FUSE GOOD IGNITION SWITCH IS BAD OR HAS A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.IF FUSE GOOD ALL GAUGES IS WORKING.I BE LOOKING AT STARTER AND STARTER SOLENOID.REMOVE THEM HAVE AUTO ZONE TEST STARTER.OR YOU CAN GET A REMOTE STARTER SWITCH AND SET OF BATTERY CABLES.HOOK BATTERY CABLES TO A BATTERY.WITH STARTER OUT OF CAR TAKE BATTERY CABLES HOOK NEGATIVE BATTERY TO STARTER BODY FOR GOOD GROUND.TAKE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE HOOK TO STARTER POSITIVE TERMINAL WHERE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE GOES.THEN HOOK THE REMOTE SWITCH RED WIRE TO STARTER POSITIVE TERMINAL AND THE OTHER REMOTE SWITCH WIRE TO THE S OR SWITCH TERMINAL ON STARTER SOLENOID.PRESS THE REMOTE SWITCH IS STARTER RUNS GOOD WITH NO FUNNY NOISES ITS GOOD IF STARTER DONT RUN THE STARTER SOLENOID OR STARTER IS BAD. THE PROBLEMS IN YOUR CAR COULD BE A BAD KEY TRY ANOTHER KEY YOUR CAR HAS THE THEFT DETERRENT MODULE SYSTEM BEST TO HAVE CAR SCAN TO CHECK THE THEFT SECURITY MODULE AND THE TRANSMISSION NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH IF ITS BAD STARTER WONT WORK.ALSO CHECK THE THEFT DETERRENT MODULE RELAY. BEFORE REMOVING BATTERY CABLES TURN OFF RADIO SO YOU WONT LOSE YOUR RADIO PLAYING CODE.

Are there any main fuses on a 2001 plymouth neon

Have you checked the starter solenoid. Your battery + cable connects to this then + cable runs from it to your starter. You also have an ignition switch wire connected to this. Just follow your cable from the battery and it will lead you right to the part. Some times these will break inside or the contacts go bad inside and therefore you will not get power to start the engine, but you will have power to turn on lights or whatever other accessories. The part is about $15

My impala will not crank at all. my battery is charged but when i turn the car to start nothing at all happens.

POSSIBLE CAUSE BATTERY CABLES COULD BE LOOSE OR CORRODED OR BAD GROUND CABLE.YOUR STARTER SOLENOID OR STARTER IS FAULTY.YOUR CAR COULD BE IN THEFT DETERENT MODE.ALSO CHECK IGNITION FUSE TO MAKE SURE THE IGNITION SWITCH IS GETTING POWER.BECAUSE A BAD IGNITION SWITCH WILL CAUSE NO START PROBLEMS.

I have telstar tx5 ghia 1990 2,2l 4 cilind automatic, power everithing, car is done 240000.yus wont start one mornig doing klik didn t start and couple time kliking alnaser (starter) and i have used cable ...

Hi
Easiest test is to reconnect jumper cables and switch lights on, if these work and no noise AT ALL from starter, NO clicking at all then could be the jumper cables are too light like most are. Try 2 sets of jumper cables. Ensure that the cables are correclty applied, Red to Red and the black is the last connection to a good steel part on your engine, NOT the battery.Always ensure the car being used to jump from is running at all times while cables are connected. When it starts remove this one FIRST also.
